34 week US and conflicting advice

Yesterday I saw my Perinatologist and regular OB. All went well with my scan. Baby boy is head down, went from the 84th percentile to the 78th percentile with size. They estimated him to be 5 lbs 12 oz. He's healthy and doing great. I am super thankful for that.

Because my feet and hands are starting to swell the Perinatologist said to take it easy, put my feet up and to relax AMAP. He also said no more walking esp with this heat. That my BP is ok but to keep exercise to swimming only.

My OB said no, walking is fine, stay active AMAP just do housework and stay in the AC. She checked my urine and BP and said both were fine but that I could literally be fine today and have Pre-E tomorrow. So now I'm on weekly Dr. visits.

Hmmmm. I honestly would do what you feel comfortable with. If at anytime you need to stop then stop. I hate when we get conflicting opinions but that is what they are "opinions".

Yeah, I think I will just err on the cautious side.  I figure the Perinatologist is a specialist and has more training than my reg OB.  And since its over 100 outside I'm not really feeling up to my walk.  It's much more pleasant to swim anyway. Cool

I got really swollen when I was pregnant with my son. Putting my feet up, staying out of the heat, staying hydrated, and cutting back on salt were all really important.  It is good to move around a bit but the swelling does get worse when you are on your feet all day.  Baths with Epsom salt felt great and helped with the swelling.  Good luck!

I would keep up the exersize in air conditioning for stress relief and healthiness, but make sure to have my feet up for 30 minutes to an hour several times a day too.

Did you mention the conflict to your OB? Maybe they can offer you some warning signs to watch for...

    g/l!

swimming is so good for you - moves all your joints with no impact, takes the weight of your belly off your body, pushes all that extra fluid out of your tissues, cools you - I would totally rest & swim!

Thanks ladies! I did mention to my OB about the conflicting advice and she didn't really respond other than to agree to stay out of the heat.  So...I got in the pool last night after dinner and a nap.  Then just before bed I walked my dog just about half a block and slowly.  It was dark out and just warm as opposed to hot.
