What are you reading? Or are you a trust your instincts kind of parent?" I studied child development in my major so I don't want to be too "teachie" with my kids. Also, H was asking what I thought he should read.

Then and now. How did my boy get so big?
Re: What are the good parenting books?
This, and Babywise are the two books that have been recommended to me. HBOTB was good, and I think it will be helpful. I haven't read babywise yet myself, but I have friends who swear by it!
I'm a FTM but we were recommended to read The Baby Book by Dr. Sears. Our child care class instructor specifically warned against the Babywise books because the author has absolutely no basis for his methods.

I'm not a fan of most parenting books, because they all seem to contradict each other, and make you feel bad if your kid doesn't fit that mold.
That said, I LOVE the book The Wonder Weeks. It's not a parenting advice book, but rather about the major, predictable developmental milestones your baby will go through. So when your sweet, good sleeping baby suddenly turns into a screaming lunatic, you know it's not anything you're doing wrong. It gives you tips on activities to do with your baby to help them navigate the leap. I swear, this book was spot on with DS. It was a sanity saver. I give this book to every new mom now, and everyone I've given it to has said the same thing.
