When did you start to show and/or buy maternity clothes? Also, are you gaining at the same pace?
I definitely have a bump going on right now (whether it's bloat, my organs, whatever, it wasn't there a month ago and I feel so fat). Clothes are getting tighter, and don't remember them getting this tight until at least12 weeks with DS. I've gained four pounds so far, too which is on track with my last pg (I gained under 20, but 6 were in the first tri). Anyway, I know everyone's different, but curious about other experiences.
Also, my symptoms so far are very similar. I know there is no way of knowing, but makes me think I'm having another baby boy, lol.
TIA!
Re: Second time Mama's please come in
This is my third, but my clothes stopped being comfortable around 8-9 weeks. By 12/13 weeks I was wearing pretty much all maternity clothes. It's crazy how much sooner you show with each one. Now, at 22 weeks, I look like I did in my third tri with my first!
I feel like a STM oddball because I was so bloated and my clothes were miserably tight with my first by 12 weeks. (Even though I didn't really show until past 20 weeks.) I also gained almost 10lbs in first tri last time because carbs were the only thing I could eat.
This time at 16 weeks, I'm not showing AT ALL. I mean, maybe I can tell a little, but my regular clothes fit totally fine. And I'm only up 3-4 pounds total at this point. I have also been much sicker this time around just not wanting to eat at all, so I'm sure that explains a lot of it.
But for me, it's definitely not true that STMs will show earlier or need maternity clothes earlier . . .
This is me, last time and this time. I usually don't eat a ton of carbs (mainly lean protein and fruit/veggies), but I need and crave it in first tri.
I'm a FTM & bought my maternity pants this week. I skipped the bella band completely because I'm still able to wear my dresses so I went ahead and bought one pair of mat pants from Old Navy. Everything but shorts/pants still fit just fine.
Since you're a STM you'll likely start showing earlier!
This time, I started looking pudgy around the middle at about 7 weeks. I started actually looking pregnant I think around 12-14 weeks. My scale is crap but I'm up about 13-15lbs from pre-pregnancy (120lbs) at this point, I was apparently underweight before.
Last time, I didn't start showing until I was around 20 weeks so where I am now. I was the same pre-pregnancy weight as this time, so 120 again. I gained most of my weight (52lbs total) in the second half of the second trimester, and in my third. I put it on fairly quickly, DS was a 10 pounder and I was all belly.
I'm kind of afraid to see how big I'm going to get this time if I looked like I was about to pop with twins with DS at 7 months, and my bump is already as big as it is now. I'm thinking I inherited my Nan's 10lb baby gene. Eek.
I have no idea re: weight gain. I'm not keeping track like last time.
I started getting uncomfortable in my regular pants around 7-8 weeks pregnant. I wore a lot of dresses and skirts throughout the end of the school year. I started showing around 12 weeks, really showing around 14. My belly is almost as big now as it was when I was 20 weeks with my son. I am still on summer vacation, so I can get away with gym shorts and sweats a lot of the time. I've also been wearing maternity jeans (probably since around week 9 or 10). They have a woven waistband, not a panel. My m/s was very bad this time and I really didn't want anything squishing my belly. Before I knew it, I needed them for real (due to showing a bit). Ftr, I didn't start showing with my son until I was 16 weeks or so.
I'm not at the same weight as I was when I first got pregnant with DS, so it's hard to say if I am gaining the same way... but so far it's been about the same. I didn't start to "show" with DS until 16-17 weeks, and that's when I started wearing maternity jeans, but still wore my old shirts.
I put on the maternity jeans at 10w this time, and my entire 1st tri was an effing nightmare. (Which was not the case with DS)
Some things are different, some things are the same. We'll have to see how the rest of the pregnancy #2 goes.
