C-sections

wwyd?

SO, I won't lie and say I've been "careful" since having the c-section.. LO was in the NICU, which meant, I was up and walking less than 12 hours after the surgery.. and, every day after I walked a LOT.. so, since being home, I've pretty much not limitted myself, unless I do something and I feel direct pain from that.. so far, that method has worked fine.. plus, I wasn't really taking the pain medicine after the first few days.. occasionally I'd take a motrin, but that was more to help the soreness in my breasts and nips from nursing!!

Anyway.. last night I was laying in bed and was feeling a burning sensation around my incision.. I was gently brushing over it with my hand, and it felt "scabby".. I had DH take a peak (I can't see it!! It's right under my little belly flap, and I almost have to lay down in order for anyone to see it!!).. anyway, DH said there was dried blood around the incision.. hmph..

So, tonight.. still burning.. and, it's very "moist".. I can't tell if it's oozy, or if I am just warm and it's sweat, or what the heck is going on.. DH peaked again, it's still red and scabby in most parts..

Is this normal for 3 weeks post partum?  Is this something I should call the OB about?  I'm still so numb all around the incision (above and below).. this burning sensation is the first "pain" I've felt related to the incision itself..

Thanks in advance!

  • I don't remember having any scabbiness or oozing. You can see from my ticker that it's been awhile, but I really don't remember anything like that.

  • Yes, please call.

I did not have any scabbing or bleeding or oozing after either of my c/s.

  • i was given the advice that when i have mine done to have handkerchiefs handy and roll them up to absorb the moisture.

     call your dr asap

  • I'd call your doctor to check things out and take it a little easier. Walking is good for you. Lifting, vacuuming, mopping, bending over a lot-those things are not good for you.

  • I did have bleeding or what looked like blood and drainage from my c-section scar this time around up until about 3-4 weeks after my c-section. It was due to build up of fluid being my incision that was leaking out. My incision also opened up a little bit. I was advised that it was normal and to keep it dry by putting gauze or a pad over it.
