C-sections

Phantom kicks?

I had DD yesterday via c-section.

Shortly after they undressed the wound I was laying in bed with DD and I suddenly felt a jab near my incision.  It felt just like it would if she had kicked me and it hurt because it was right where the cut was and I jolted up.

Any idea of what this might be? The only way I can describe them are phantom kicks since theres obviously no baby there anymore.

Re: Phantom kicks?

  • I felt phantom kicks for a few weeks postpartum.  It's a very strange feeling, knowing there is nothing in there. :)

Also, your uterus will contract to shrink down to regular size.  Sometimes it's painful and I found it happened the most during breastfeeding.

  • I had something like this happen to me the day after and I think it was gas or a huge air bubble trapped.
  • I had my LO in May and I still get jabs of pain near my incision. Sometimes it's just a feeling, and other times it's a very sharp pain! Just takes time..... and yes, you'll also cramp while breast feeding as your uterus shrinks....

  • I still feel phantom kicks...I call them my gas babies. I since I know what a kick feels like any gas that moves through I am more aware of it.

  • It's normal and weird. LOL

It can also be your uterus contracting back to normal. I had phantom kicks for a while post my other kids, I assume I'll have them again this time.
