6 week Post Partum appointment..

What should I expect?  Not an internal, right, since it was a c-section?  Will they just take a peek at my incision and call it a day?  I'm trying to figure out if I should schedule it on a day when I can get someone to watch LO for the appointment, or if it's just an in and out thing and I could just bring him along with me..

What do you think/what did you do?

Mine was a very short appointment. Like you said, just a peek at the incision, and asking how everything is going. Then the "Green Light" and birth control talk.

I had an internal, because my c-section was unscheduled, and I was fully dilated. Then I had an incision check, and a birth control conversation.  I had to bring DS to a couple of my OB appointments early on, and it was awful. He would cry the whole time. I started having my mom or dad meet me there to watch him in waiting room for the 15-20 minutes.

In my office we do a full exam at 6 weeks postpartum including a pap smear, even after a c-section. The big conversation is birth control. so you may want to consider this in advance.

For both my unplanned and scheduled c-section, for the 6 weeks pp appointments I had a speculum exam and a bi-manual pelvic exam.  She also looked at the incision, we talked about how I was feeling, breastfeeding, my bleeding, birth control, my weight loss, and exercise.  I had an internal even though I didn't have a pap smear.  My husband came with and we brought the baby.

I had an internal.. she wanted to check how I was healing. She checked my scar, we talked about bc and ppd and then I was on my way. 

I did bring LO with me, he slept the entire time.
