does one couple take both babies, or do you pick out a couple for each baby? what if you wanted to keep one twin and make an adoption plan for the other? how does that work?
I think most of the time they say it's best for the babies if they are kept together. (Although that may not always be possible.) I had an agency call me about twins this past week, but the fees were outrageous! So sad, wouldn't twins be fun?!
Interestingly enough, I grew up with someone who was adopted and didn't know she was a twin until she was 34. She and her sister wrote a book called "Identical Strangers" which was very interesting about how they separated twins/triplets at birth and never told anyone. NOT GOOD, and it is not usually done today. It is important for twins to stay together. There is an enormous bonding especially if they are identical.

Moved on to gestational surrogacy with a family friend who is our angel and due 7/23/15
Are you expecting twins?? I saw your post below. I encourage you to connect with some local agencies just to get fair support as you work through your feelings and make decisions. A good agency will support you regardless of your plan.
Best friends and sisters... 24 months and 16 months

yeah. I have an appointment with an agency friday and i wanted to know some stuff before i went in
Our agency has placed several sets of twins since we starting working with them. It's best for the two babies to stay together... so, I agree with the previous posters that they need to be placed with one family. Most agencies will ask couples if they're open to twins.
Oh goodness! Congrats, I didn't realize you were the one expecting twins! That is amazing. Find a good agency that will help you, don't be afraid to try a few out - there are lots of bad agencies who won't care about you like they should! I will be praying for you. Keep us all updated here on the boards!
I just wanted to add a comment about your question of going through an agency or not. That may not be the route you want to go and you want to do an identified placement. In Tx, they still require at least some involvement from an agency or lawyer, and to avoid violating child trafficking laws it's best to get some advice and guidance. But what I really wanted to say about an agency is that a good agency will give you some guidance and counseling if you want it.
No matter what good luck on your journey and I wish you the best.

I am going to answer this, as a twin. There is an unspeakable bond that twins have that others do not and cannot understand. I don't think I would feel whole without my sister. As a matter of fact, my neighbor's twin brother was stillborn and he said, even as an adult, he feels like a piece of him is missing. Twins are a whole lot of work and if you cannot handle it, believe me, I understand. But I would adopt them both out, together, if you can. My thoughts are with you in this difficult decision. Good luck with your appointment today!

There are people on here doing private adoptions. There is usually no agency involved unless you live in a state that requires one.

How exciting! Good luck!
