So I've been given the honor of naming my soon to be niece or nephew. I've got a few names but can't seem to narrow them further. Boys names I've found easier than girls (I thought it'd be the other ways around). Middle name for girl is Juliette. Not sure about middle name for boy.

Boys:

Flynn

Luca

Xavier

Matisse

 

Girls:

Kira

Alina

Isla

Allegra

 

Girls names have been more difficult, I want something pretty but not too common. I LOVE Allegra Juliette however there is already an Allegra in our family so not sure if I want to cause confusion by using it again. Any suggestions welcome!

Your girls names are really NMS but I would say my favorite of them is Alina. Allegra just makes me think of allergy medicine.

My sister and I are really close. I don't really know specifically why she chose me but I'm happy to do it. Whatever I decide on I'll run past her of course and if she doesn't like it we'll come up with something else. It's not uncommon in our family for a close family member to choose the name of a new baby, my mom was named by her uncle! I guess it's just something we do.

I think it's kind of weird that your sister asked you to name her child...why don't she and her husband/baby's father want to do it?

I like Luca, Xavier, Kira, and Isla. Allegra is an allergy drug and Matisse is an artist.

Luckily we do. To the point that most of the names on that list were names we'd both mentioned we'd liked when we had a chat about baby names when she was TTC. Alina would be pronounced (A Lee Nah). I really like Sienna as well except my sister doesn't like Sienna Miller so that option was taken off the list. Pity that a name you really like can be ruined by one person.

 

ETA: I don't think it's that uncommon to have someone else name your child? But maybe that's just where I'm from. It's not that I'm just going to choose any name I'd like whether she likes it or not. I guess I'm just more involved than the average Aunt would be.

I love Allegra, I have a 12 yr old cousin named Allegra. 

Love Luca, I new a sibset in HS and their names were Luca and Emma. The other names are really NMS.
