Is it best to buy a potty that looks like a toilet so that the transition later on to the big potty is easier or is it better to buy a fun potty that might be more fun to use
I prefer one that can be cleaned easily or buy a ring that can fit on the toilet so you can just take that with you when you go out/travel.
We have a training potty where the waste can be removed from the back and poured out and a ring to fit over the toilet seat. As of today she's been more successful with the ring vs the training potty and it's our day 5.

We have the ring that fits on the toilet too. When u say u go out, do you mean out to eat and shopping etc??? I have not took DS out yet since PT for the fear of him not wanting to use the big potty in stores. At home when I pratice w/ him he cries "no momma, to big"

Exactly! Tomorrow is our first trip out since starting and I'll be bringing the ring with me (drs appointment, so we'll try to give the bladder a squeeze when I have to give my urine sample).
I opt'ed to switch to the ring so that she can hopefully go almost anywhere without having some type of potty confusion.

Is there a collapseable (sp?) one? I can't see myself carrying that big thing around lol
Yes, we have this one and it rules. It is very compact and can be used as a potty or toilet ring. Since DD is not a fan of regular toilets (and especially public) it will likely take a while before she will use it as a toilet ring but it works great.
I have not used their special bags. I had some of these lying around (bought them at Wal-Mart) that I never used and they work fine with a little bit of stretching and finagling. Plus they are cheap.

I have 2 Baby Bjorn Smart Potties. They are simple but they can be easily moved around (and are easy to clean) which is a big plus when they first start especially if you have a big house or if you want to take it outside (or even in the car)

We have a fun one that is on the ground. We had it in the bathroom for months beofre we started training, and he would sit on it fully clothed while an adult used the big potty. Then before bathtime, I had him just sit on it naked while i filled the bath. No pressure just sit here while mommy fills the tub. After a while he would sometimes pee, (and would scream if he did) but after a while that stopped.
Then for actual potty training, he likes us both going together (so a seperate one works best), and he feels more secure with both feet on the ground. Then we recently moved his potty onto the big potty in the bathroom he usually uses. And got a step stool, And he likes thats. However once LO can start to get on the potty all by thiemselves the bump in front is hard to go over so a removable bump is best or get another seat.

Oh I'm sure, Amazon.com has everything. I use a backpack and our ring slipped in a plastic bag fits perfectly.
