Our nanny's last day was Friday and I need to get her a parting gift. I was OOT for work last week. She has been with us for over a year and was very, very good to DS.
She will continue to babysit as needed and we have several play dates lined up with her new "little boy" and DS over the next few weeks before DS starts montessori. She is part of our family and she is spending Christmas with us this year since she cannot go home due to working her new job.
Cash is generally standard, but I wondered about something more personal. She gave to DS an amazing scrapbook that had photos and things they have done together over the past year. It was incredibly sweet.
She is very artsy and creative. She has a boyfriend and loves to cook, the NY Yankees, crafting, and being outside.
Thanks for any ideas and/or for sharing what you have given yours.

Son #3 - Hoping to adopt from China some time in 2014!
Our adoption journey: Talkin' 'Bout the Next Generation
Our nanny's last day is tomorrow. We got her a necklace with the girls' names engraved so she can keep them "close to her heart.". And we hired a photographer to take pics of the three of them. I will print some of them and make her (and the kids) a nice photo book.
Sniff sniff. I will miss her.
Our in home DCP is retiring in a few weeks, and we made a sign for DD to hold that says, "Thank you". We are going to let DD put some stickers on it, and maybe color on it. Then, we are going to take a picture of DD holding it (assuming she is a willing participant, that is)
and frame it for our DCP.
We will also likely send her flowers and/or give her a gift card.
