Gymnastics class

In the spirit of the games, I happened to notice that our one local gymnastics place is having open house tonight and they have a class for walkers to 3 years on Wednesday mornings (parents get to participate, which, let's face it is why I'm interested).

Anyone's LO take a toddler gymnastics class and do they like it? Adair, I imagine like most kids her age, is all about the tumble time in the house. I think it would be a really fun thing for us to do together. It's once a week, 45min.

Re: Gymnastics class

  • Emerson is in a Pre K class and I do a mommy and me class with Landry and Hudson.  We all love, love, love it!  We are signed up for the Fall session, too.  Do it!

  • Our local kid gym has gymnastics, swimming, dance, and tae kwan do.  kiddo has taken multiple gymnastics classes (they have 5 terms a year).  she really enjoys it.

  • We've taken the kids to a tumbling class for about a year (break for summer) and they love it.

Now I'm debating if I should move them to the next level where parents just watch, or keep them in the parent participation class.  I think they're ready to move on - but not sure if I am :(

  • Our local gym has an 18 months-3 years class that I am thinking about enrolling DD in. It's $50 a month. Is that pretty reasonable?

That sounds right.  I payed 200 for two months for both babies.

DS has been going to a Tumble Tots class since he was 15mo. He has a great time. We pay $50/mo too. I laughed last week when his class (and all the other classes) were full of new kids because of the Olympics.

  • I use to coach those kinds of classes. I think they're awesome and can't wait to put my LO in one. I say do it!

  • We go to a toddler tumbling class at the YMCA. It's $20 for 5 classes (each class is 1 hour). They do stretching, dancing, balance beam, trampoline, obstacle courses, and practice somersaults. The last half hour or so is mainly free play. If nothing else, the girls like it and it gets some energy out.

  • yes and all the kids did was run around for 40 min.... there was a "warm up" for about 5 minutes where we'd run, hop, stretch...

It wasn't worth what we were paying so we dropped it.

  • My 2 year old loves gymnastics. :) We will be doing it for a while!

She loves the forward rolls, doing balance beam activities, and anything on the trampoline.
