I did it! I did it! I did it!
I never thought we'd make it this far! We've been through a lot: unexpected CS, PPD, shallow latch (that was missed by the hospital LCs and nurses), nipple trauma as a result of the shallow latch (lefty looked like it was turned inside out ), low supply (I've had to supplement with formula from the beginning), plugged ducts, nipple shields, SNS and most recently, biting. Wow. And after all that, we're still going strong at a year. I fought almost every day for the first six months to keep BFing and I'm so glad I did. I'm so proud of myself!
I've seen posts like this in the past and they really encouraged me to keep going. I hope this post can do the same for someone else.
Re: AW: I Made it to a Year! (XP)
Congratulations and happy birthday to your little one!
When I made it a year I cried I was so happy!
Now DD is almost 2 and she is still nursing, I thought about weaning her, but after talking to a lactation consultant at her most recent Dr's appt. (They were having an event for national breastfeeding week in the pedi waiting room) they encouraged me to continue to give her BM until she is 3 to encourage brain development. I might pump more though now.
Anyways, Good job momma! It really is one of the best decisions that you can make to your LO, but a huge commitment.
YAY!!!!
Such an amazing gift you gave your son! Congrats on powering through, sounds like you really had a handful of problems thrown at you this past year.
