2) Where in the process are you? Working on our home study
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? We got through our 2nd of 5 visits today.
4) Most encouraging moment last week? I got our profile in the mail! And we got my SD's physical form back from her mom (I was really worried about her mom cooperating).
5) Biggest challenge of this week? More paperwork
6) Anything else you want to share? Now that we got our profile in, we can start being shown to birth moms! Very exciting!
7) QOTW: What is one family tradition you can't wait to pass on to your little one? Our Christmas traditions for sure.1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? And what age(s)? International adoption / Russia / 2 yo boy
2) Where in the process are you? We recently came back from our first of three trips; we are now assembling our court dossier and waiting for a court date!
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? We've only been back from Russia one week and we almost have our whole dosser together! Feels so good.
4) Most encouraging moment last week? Just that the week went fast. I'm praying the time just flies by until we get to bring our little man home.
5) Biggest challenge of this week? Between finishing our court dossier and leaving for my brother's out of state wedding, which I am MC-ing, I am feeling very overwhelmed. Struggling to stay on top of the anxiety.
6) Anything else you want to share? Just love you ladies and your great advice/comments/encouragement on this board!
7) QOTW: What is one family tradition you can't wait to pass on to your little one? I'll be cliche and say CHRISTMAS! But this is what I'm really excited about: we celebrate Christmas as a religious holiday and I am not big on Santa. We do gifts and a tree etc., but the focus is always spiritual in our home. I want to raise our children to have fun with Santa, but always knowing he is pretend and not real. Well when we were in Russia we learned about how the Russians celebrate New Years (instead of Christmas) with "Father Frost" - similar to Santa Clause. We decided that the best way to enjoy the Santa part of Christmas without being downers ("Santa isn't real"), is to have fun with Santa Clause, Father Frost (Russian), and Sinterklaas (Dutch- my heritage). That way we can celebrate the rich stories and the fact that they are stories and not "real" will sort of just be a natural part of the celebration ("in different countries people tell this story in different ways!"). Sorry so long, but that was a source of tension between DH and I, and we are happy to have found a creative solution to the issue!TTC September 2010 thru October 2011

3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? Application is complete! Handing it in tonight.
4) Most encouraging moment last week? See above
5) Biggest challenge of this week? Not knowing what direction to go... And our houseguest doesnt seem to be actively looking for an opportunity to move.

7) QOTW: What is one family tradition you can't wait to pass on to your little one? My family doesn't really have traditions... We spend every holiday and birthday together.. But, beyond getting together and eating, no actual tradition that we always stick to. I look forward to creating new traditions with our child. Now... if you are referring to things we do that aren't necessarily traditions... I have a TON of those. I can't wait to share sooo many things of our life with a child.

5) Biggest challenge of this week? Constantly getting questions regarding when I can have a baby shower. Do I know what sex the baby is going to be? When will they be coming home? People who have never gone through this, the majority, don't know what in the world actually goes on and they think I just get a baby in like 5 days. Going to be a looooong potential couple of years...
6) Anything else you want to share? I've been watching that "I'm Having Their Baby" show and it's taught me a lot. I'm also reading "Dear Birthmother, thank you for our baby." Seeing things more from the BM side has been a real eye-opener for me, but one that I am thankful for being exposed to. I never want to downplay what a huge role she will always play in our lives. I'm so thankful and so full of love for a woman I haven't even met yet.

7) QOTW: What is one family tradition you can't wait to pass on to your little one?
That's a tough one. I never really feel like anything is a "tradition" per se, until I catch myself feeling sentimental while doing it. I guess making ginger bread houses for christmas. We always have a contest (we are a very nerdy and competitive family so it gets interesting LOL) to see who can make the most structurally sound, and aesthetically pleasing ginger bread house...and not out of those little kits either. With real home made frosting and candy...yum! I'm 30 and its still the highlight of my holiday season, so I am sure it is something I will pass on.
Domestic Infant (transracial)
Documentation
Nope.
None.
I'm trying not to push DH into doing the paperwork, but last Monday, I did tell him that I wanted him to go through things on his own during the week. He didn't. I don't want to be a nag, because I want him to WANT to get the process moving forward.
QOTW: What is one family tradition you can't wait to pass on to your little one?
Our Adoption Blog & Fundraising Efforts
Heading to China in November 2014 to bring our son home!
1) What kind of adoption/fostering are you doing? And what age(s)? Not sure yet, but heavily leaning towards international adoption; 0-4/5 yrs.
2) Where in the process are you? We're really at the beginning stages. It's something we've talked about since we've been dating and just in the past couple of weeks have begun to look into taking the first steps. We've been looking into agencies in our area and the costs associated.
3) Any recent accomplishments or milestones to celebrate? Just found out that DH's job has an adoption assistance benefit, so he's looking into more information on that.
4) Most encouraging moment last week? Reading through some adoption process blogs and hearing the stories, both the ups and the struggles.
5) Biggest challenge of this week? Worry over the finances and sharing with our family. We don't have any known fertility issues and feel blessed by that, however others have made comments about why we'd adopt when we could have our own children. If we do adopt those will be "our own children."
6) Anything else you want to share?
7) QOTW: What is one family tradition you can't wait to pass on to your little one? All of the little traditions; like the Advent Calendar counting down for Christmas, going pumpkin picking for Halloween with the entire family, etc.
