I had all of these great plans (and bought all of these great mini bento boxes) to pack DD's lunch and school snack ... only to find out her classroom does group, shelf-stable snacks. So, I sent her off to school today with a box of crackers and a lunch bento. Oh well! I'm sure I'll think of something to do with all the mini boxes!
First school lunch! Excuse the poor lighting, I was by a window but it was dark-early! I wanted to pack DD's favorite foods today so that I could be assured she'd eat during her very short lunch time (only 15 minutes!). Jelly sandwich with heart sprinkles, peanut butter pretzels, a yogurt-covered pretzel as a treat, some leftover chicken, and a box of raisins labeled "love seeds." There's a sidecar of heart-cut strawberries, grapes and baby carrots. These two containers were packed in her lunch box along with an ice pack and a water bottle. I'm very curious how much she'll eat.
Hello Kitty snack. I'm not going to lie, getting those itty bitty pieces of nori attached to the face was a total pain! I cut out the sandwich using part of a Hello Kitty rice mold - this box is far too small for our larger HK cookie cutter. Also grapes, ham, peanut butter pretzels in a little silicone to keep them dry, plus a tomato and some carrot sticks.
Beach lunch using a few more new picks from allthingsforsale.com. On the left are tomatoes and grapes, fresh mozzarella (one taste - she didn't like it) and cucumber. On the right is a PBJ with a sea star cut-out (I think it looks cute with those teensy nonpareils) and some Chex mix.
A really fun snack idea I got from artfulparent.typepad.com. Building with grapes and toothpicks is SO much better than using mini marshmallows, which we've tried with very limited success. DD played for a long time with these, building all sorts of things, eventually ate all the grapes, and then played with the toothpicks. Enough time for me to make dinner and clean the kitchen - success!
And finally, a playdate lunch with a picky eater friend. They had ham & cheese sandwiches, cucumbers and grapes, plums & nectarines, plus a few crackers. Not terribly cute, but they were too busy gabbing to notice much!
PIP your cute lunches here! Have a great week!
Re: *Cute lunch check-in*
We do have a stainless container from allthingsforsale.com, and she can open that. (It is incredible quality - I swear it's identical to much more expensive ones, and I think it cost $16.) It also came with a small round stainless cup with a lid.
