Adoption

Introduction

Hi ladies; just wanted to introduce myself as my dh & I are moving forward with plans to foster/adopt. I have been lurking here for a few weeks & have already learned so much. After a year & a half ttc we have decided to forgo further if treatments & focus on fostering/adoption. I am 35, went through 5 cycles of Clomid, 1 iui & have never been pregnant. All testing (as well as dh sa) has come back normal. I feel very strongly that fostering/adoption is the path we are supposed to take at this time in our lives. We are attending a meeting about foster care Tuesday night after seeing an article in the local paper about a need for foster homes in our area. After internally thinking about taking this step & praying on it....how could I not take that article as a sign:) Foster to adopt is where we are going to start; I am trying to mentally prepare for the high probability of having several children come through our home. I do believe that our child(ren) is out there somewhere & we will be united as a family. I have enjoyed reading some of your stories about your adoption journeys;  but have specifically been inspired by the foster to adopt ones. Any tips/advice would be greatly appreciated. Best wishes to you all!!
Foster to adopt process started 8/2012:)

  • Welcome to the board. We are on a similar path to you. Good Luck Tuesday. :)

My advice is know in the process they are good at talking about the worst case scenarios.  To me that is something that has been interesting.

  • Welcome!  My advice is to ask as many questions as you can.  Fostering is a crazy world that I feel like it is hard at first to wrap your arms around it.  This board is a great resource!
