TTC After a Loss

Anovulatory Cycle?

Is having a anovulatory cycle post mc common? I'm thinking I'm headed in that direction. I had an *almost* positive opk at cd10 but since then the lines are super faint and my temp is kinda all over the place. Did anyone have this happen? Or did anyone ovulate really late their first cycle post mc?

The latest I had ever ovulated before this cycle was cd17 so I'm headed into unfamiliar waters and I don't know what to expect at this point.

Thanks ladies!

Re: Anovulatory Cycle?

  • My RE and OB said it was very common, and it could take up to six months to regulate your hormones after a miscarriage.

My first cycle was anovulatory, even on Clomid.  Prior to my miscarriage I would always ovulate on my own, it was just always late.  Both of my doctors tried to reassure me the soon enough I would go back to "normal."  My second cycle, post-m/c, I did ovulate.  It was a little on the late side for me, especially with Clomid, but I did ovulate.  It has gotten better each cycle, both medicated and natural, but it took some time.

It's hard to have patience, but that is what our bodies need.  It takes time to heal and have everything regulate.  Good luck!

  • It could be anovulatory or it might just be delayed ovulation.  I used to have textbook cycles before my M/C and last cycle I O'd really late.  But it seems to regulating back towards normal this cycle.

It'll probably be a wait and see in your case for now.  You may still O this cycle.

  • Thanks for the replies. I'm trying not to get too concerned, but it's hard not to worry that my body isn't going to work right. I guess I just keep dipping those opks and see what happens over the next few weeks.

  • After my miscarriage I had two normal cycles and then an anovulatory one. I was worried about not ovulating again, but then I had a regular cycle after. It's super frustrating, but I think it's normal.

  • CD 20 is waaaaaay to early to determine if it's going to be an anovulatory cycle, especially the cycle after a loss.  Have you had your hCG followed back to 0?  You will likely not O until you're near or at 0, which could take 4-6 weeks depending on how high it was.
