Newbie and can you help me figure this out?

Hi ladies. I'm joining this board after my first pregnancy resulted in a m/c at 7 weeks. I look forward to getting to know you all and am sending positive vibes for healthy pregnanices asap for all!

 I am trying to make sense of my cycle. I know it is different for every woman and things can be off after an m/c. I started bleeding and cramping on July 24th, went to ER and ultrasound showed no baby, cervix was closed, and HCG was 410. Bled for 5 days and HCG was 290 on Friday, July 27th.

Yesterday I started spotting and this morning there was a little blood after DTD. I thought this was too early for AF to return? 11 days after m/c. I don't feel crampy and period-y either. I took a hpt test wondering if my HCG has dropped all the way down yet and it was a quick, dark positive. So, since my body still has HCG, any idea what the spotting is?

 I assumed my m/c was natural but I wonder if there is tissue leftover? I don't go to the dr until August 16th for a post m/c checkup. I can call tomorrow and talk to a nurse, but since it's Sunday I thought I'd ask if any of you know what could be causing the spotting, or if it's normal to spot a week after the m/c bleeding stopped completely. I really hope I don't need a D&C, we want to TTC as soon as possible and not knowing my cycle is driving me nuts. Thanks for any input!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Welcome to the board.

The spotting may have been caused by DTD.  You are still healing and it may have caused some trauma to the tissue.

That being said, as your hormones have not returned to normal yet, the possibility of retained tissue does exist.  Right now, since it was just spotting after sex, I'd keep an eye on it.  If you continue to spot off and on over an extended period of time or have very strong cramps, it can be an indication that your body is expelling tissue.

Hi there, COkristi. I'm so sorry for your loss. Welcome to the board.

 I think it's hard to say for sure, but in my experience, I was bleeding and spotting on and off for a couple of weeks after my m/c. What color is the blood? I believe if it has a brown tinge, it is probably old blood/tissue from the m/c. Definitely call your doctor if you have questions, though.

Welcome to the board....I'm very sorry for your loss. I've been told that some people bleed for a couple of weeks, off and on, after a mc. I've also always "heard" that you should wait a little while before DTD, to give your body time to mc. That being said, I would definitely call your doctor in the morning, to get his/her professional opinion on your specific case.

 I am relieved to hear that spotting on and off is normal after a m/c. Sorry if I was confusing in the OP, the spotting started yesterday and was red. I assumed it was AF, but no period symptoms and it stopped overnight so DTD this morning and there was a tiny bit of blood after. Hopefully it is just normal spotting and not a sign that the m/c is still incomplete. I will call my dr's office in the morning and see if they'll check my HCG again. I just want my cycle to return so we can TTC again!

Same thing happened with me. I had a D&C on July 6th and we DTD a few times about 10 days later and I realized that i started spotting.  i spotted on and off for a few days...then a break...then a little spotting again.  Now i'm 30 days past the D&C and spotted brownish blood for 2-3 days and this morning had a full AF flow.
