Need help picking an ipad...

DH is getting me an ipad for my bday next week.  I have no idea what I need on it. There are too many choices and my head is spinning.  I know I want the new one but have no idea if I need 16, 32 of 64GB and no idea what the difference is with Wifi versus Wifi cellular.  Does that mean it's a phone too? 

Any experts out there?

TTC #1 since 8/1/10; Me:41 and BRCA1+, DH:46
DOR (FSH 24.3)/ terrible egg quality ; homozygous MTHFR c677t
5 IUI's: 2/11 to 6/11 and 1/12= BFN

    I lurve my iPad. The wi-fi model (standard) allows you to connect only when you're in a wi-fi hot spots. The cellular model uses cellular technology to keep you connected to the Internet wherever you are -- no hot spot necessary. So the cellular plan is a data plan and it requires a service fee. 

    I have the 32G with wi-fi cellular model, though I don't have the cellular plan enabled. We have wireless access pretty much everywhere I use mine, so the data plan isn't necessary.

    As far as the memory, 32G is plenty for me and I'd think sufficient for most. If you're going to have a lot of photos and/or music (especially music) you may want to consider 64G. Have fun!!!

    I know nothing about technology but DH is an IT manager. PM me if you want to ask him any questions - he will be giddy speaking to you about the Ipad (he is such a geek ... lol). he just set up the entire executive staff with our I-pads at my job.

    IVF #2 Lucky November 2011 - ER 11/25/2011 - 15 eggs!, 13 mature, 10 fertilized with isci - 7 made it to transfer! Transferred 1 - 8 cell and 2 - 7 cell. BFP!!!!
    1st U/S - Twins! 2nd U/S - 3 heartbeats!!! - HOLY COW!!!

    2 babies born on 3/27/12 and lost. Last baby born on 3/29/12 and lost at 20 weeks.

    Baby girl adopted - Birth Mother changed her mind and took the baby back
    IVF #4 October 2012 - New RE. Doing PGD Testing. 8 R, 7F, 2 made it to 5 day blast for PDG testing. Both Normal (Thank you G-d!!!) 1 boy and 1 girl
    transferred one beautiful 5day blast (girl)
    Please G-d the almighty one - let this be our take home baby!
    Beta #1 158, Beta #2 318, 1 Absolutely magnificent HB at 175! Thank you G-d!!!

    Thanks darling! I don't think I need 64.. Good idea about the cellular but not activating it. It gives me the option if i feel like I need it after using for a while. I have my iPhone anyway so there prob aren't too many places where I can't get service between the pad and phone.... Don't reAlly want to pay a monthly fee...

    32 is big enough for most people. If you travel a lot wifi can be nice. DH has it on his and enjoyed it this weekend away at the pool. I don't have it on mine. I just use my iPhone if wifi is not available.

    Have fun with it I didn't think I would use it much but I do now!

    If you go wifi know that you will need an ongoing subscription with a phone company to use it. My DH got me one for last Xmas and it did not have it. If I go out, there is free wifi most places. It can be a pain but I do not have the ongoing costs. 16GB may be fine for you but 32GB will be plenty

    Multiple ectopics, 2 failed IVF's
    IVF #1: Did not get to ET, embies all failed PGD (major chromosomal defects)
    IVF #2: We have 2 chromosomally perfect embies as a result of PGD (Boy/Girl) 1 failed the thaw (Girl) Transferred 1, yet ended as a c/p
    Thought it was the end of our TTC Journey 6/20/2012
    SHOCK BFP 9/28/2012: IT'S A BOY! and everything is normal !!!!!!

    Little A born 38w 2d on 05/23/13 and is a true miracle for this IF Vet!

    We have a 3rd Gen 32gb and a 1st gen 64gb- both cell enabled but we only pay for service on the 3rd gen at the moment. We transferred the ancient grandfathered unlimited plan from the 1st gen to the 3rd when we got the new one- we'll never cancel it since it's 20$ a month truly unlimited and I use the heck out of it.

    DH and I share an iPhone so you'd think there's never a good reason to mess with the iPad when we're out of wifi areas, right? But the iPad is so much easier to use- bigger, easier to type on, etc, for things like maps and making hotel reservations on the fly. A couple years ago we did a 2 week long cross country road trip with no set path and no hotel reservations- we literally opened up the ipad and reserved a hotel room in the city we decided to stop in when we got tired of driving. You could do it with an iphone, but it's nice to have the extra screen space. We love our iDevices :)
