2nd Trimester

When is itching a concern?

I will preface this by saying I have been a bit of a hypochondriac this pregnancy and wasn't worried about itching until I read about someone having cholestasis on another board.

That being said, I am itching some. Some is on my hands and feet and some is on arms and legs. My feet also feel a little tingly. My hands and feet have been swelling a bit but go up and down depending on rest.

 Sound pretty normal or should I be worried?

  • sounds normal but if you're that concerned call the doctor's office and ask one of the nurses what they think. In the meantime I would watch the amount of salt/sodium you ingest, drink more water and invest in a rich lotion (cocoa butter, shea butter) to moisturize with bc it very well may just be dry skin

  • I have all that too and I am a big of a hypochondriac myself.  I asked the OB and he said unless it's extreme then it's nothing to worry about.

  • I was very itchy about. 7 weeks and called my mom and asked the same thing.

    Worry when;

    1. You physically can't stop scratching and your making sores.

    2. You itch so bad at night that you cry and your husband has to hold your hands to keep you from scratching.

    I ended up with hives due to an allergic reaction.  Here's the prob... I'm not allergic to anything.

  • nope sounds just like what I have been going through my family dr gave me a compound cream with a mint to it so it sooths and cools it has been my life saver!!! love it and recommend it!!
