5 Weeks Pregnant

I'm pregnant ?! Wow....

I'm in my 5th week with my first baby. I'm extremely nervous with every cramp I get. I keep thinking I'm going to start bleeding. Sometimes the cramps are pretty intense but they don't last very long. I'm a little more tired than usual and have no appetite it seems. All of this is really weird. Can't believe I'm pregnant! My boyfriend and I have been together for a year and we weren't exactly ready for this. We were just planning moving in together when we got the news. I wish he was more excited. I know he will come around but right now I could use more support. I know he's in shock and so am I. I just wish I could talk to him more about what is going on. It's only been a few days so I guess I should be patient.

Re: I'm pregnant ?! Wow....

  • I know how you feel. I found out I was pregnant about 2 weeks ago and I'm still in shock. I still can't believe it yet I'm super excited. My boyfriend of several years isn't excited about it, he thinks it's really bad timing. I know he's really scared but like you I wish he was more excited. He's the only one that knows and I really need his full support. They will come around in due time. =)

    Congrats!

    Excited new mommy!

  • My boyfriend of 4 years and I just found out 3 days ago! There are a lot of emotions going on right now. I think I am more excited than he is but have already noticed him being more protective. I'm sure he will be more excited as he sees you grow!

    Congrats everyone!

  • My husband and I just found out yesterday, on our 4 year wedding anniversary. We are excited, as this is our first. I'm 32 and feel a bit old compared to many of my friends who have already had babies. I am definitely nervous about every little cramp too.

  • I'm 36 and found out I'm pregnant. Five weeks along. Every little cramp scares me, then again not having them scares me. I have had sore breasts for over two weeks and it is starting to go away. Yet another scare. The fatigue comes and goes. I started getting quesy and not being able to have full meals. Now i have 6 mini meals through out the day. I have bloat that makes getting ready for work a challenge. However, if it means my baby is healthy and growing, I have no problem enduring these wonderful early symptoms of pregnancy.
  • Trust me I know how you feel! Me and my husband found out 5 days ago and to be honest he was more excited then me :) but now that it sunk in i am so excited. Every time i cramp i get really nervous as well, i've been sick to my stomach most of the day and i am fatigued most of the time. I learned walking helps with your fatigue. As for your boyfriend he will come around i think after your first dr appointment.

  • I'm 36 too and expecting my first child with my husband.  I can't believe it!  It took us 18 months with much help in IF but it's finally happening and I'm praying it sticks.   No sickness yet, but definitely fatigue and sore chest.  Hopefully it stays that way!
Me: 35/Hubs: 35 - just moved to Minneapolis from Chicago. TTC for 18 months and expecting baby #1 April 18, 2012! Needed IVF after a few failed rounds of IUI and it worked!
  • I too am nervous with every cramp. I just found out yesterday that I am preg, and Im at 5 weeks today. Feeling a bit of nausea today. My fiance is very excited which helps. Its scary timing because he is getting out of the USAF in a few weeks and going to school so money is going to be an issue..along with planning a wedding (which was already planned for 3 months now..lol). This is such as crazy and exciting time but Im nervous about being too happy...so much can go wrong....i want this baby more than life itself....does anyone else feel this way...afraid to be too happy??

    Congrats to everyone....:-)

  • I just found out on tuesday that I was pregnant. I was scared to tell my boyfriend, which by the way he is still in denial, so I talked to my sister on how to tell him. When I told him later that night I had to tell him something I immediately started out with "don't get mad but" he didn't believe me at first. I was actually picking him up from work when I told him and brought the positive test with me and even when I showed it to him his response was "I could pee on one of those and it would show up pregnant" I told him I had never had a positive test so I took it more seriously. Now I'm at week 5 taking my vitamins and doing the things I should be doing to have a safe and healthy pregnancy. He's coming around little by little but whenever someone mentions im pregnant he says " yeah we'll see" I think hes still thinking I'm going to tell him " oops I guess I'm not" but that's just not the case. So let's just say he has a case of the denials. I think it's funny though because I've caught him looking at baby furniture and in the middle of the night I can feel him rubbing my tummy which he never does! :
I'm sure your boyfriend will come around. He is probably being like mine and not showing his happiness towards it in front of you. Good luck
  • Hi there,

I found out yesterday that I'm pregnant... to be honest I reacted in a totally opposite way to how people usually react. My husband and I got married last December and we had decided to wait for a couple of years before we had any kids, in order to settle down etc... but at the beginning of August he made one mistake, and I knew immediately that it was going to happen. Then yesterday I realised that I was late on my period, bought a pregnancy test and went home... when it turned out positive I cried for almost an hour... so badly timed!!!  :(  We went straight to our family Doctor who start to talk some sense into me...

It's hard for me to accept, especially since I wasn't at all prepared, but I'm slowly starting to get used to the idea that there's something growing inside me and it's there to stay. My Husband is still shocked, especially since he knows that it's because of his mistake... but deep down I know he's excited... and I'm sure that in time I'll get over this deep sad feeling I have inside and start to feel excited too..

  • Afraid to be too happy...my exact feelings!  I am just over 5 weeks and we are very excited, but I did miscarry in June 2011 at 4-5 weeks after I told my husband that it was very early and shouldn't say anything yet.  Sure enough, just a couple of days after he told his family, I miscarried...so at least this time he understands why I didn't want to say anything until I was a little farther along.  With that said, this time is so much different, I am in a completely different mind set and my body is going through the "normal" early pregnancy changes.  This will be my first, so I know exactly what you mean by being afraid to be too happy, as if a logical, non-hormonal person wouldn't have enough on their mind just with expecting a baby, then throw in crazy hormones, nerves, with the joy & excitement... it is impossible to be ourselves and know what to think!  Congrats!!!
  • THIS IS MY FIRST PREGNACY IM ALSO 5 WEEKS I HARDLY EAT I COULD GO DAYS WITHOUT EATING FEELING TIRED A LIL BUT OF NAUSEA REALLY SORE BREASTS EXTREMELY THIRSTY LATELY I BEEN GETTING MORNING SICKNESS AND THE FOODS THAT I  LOVED NOW I HATE THEM I HAVENT GOTTEN CHECKED UP YET BUT SOON I WILL I WANT TO SEE MY FISRT SONOGRAM ALREADY :)
  • Congrats to everyone. My hubby and I are officially trying for our 3rd baby. I believe that everything happens for a reason so maybe ur hubbys slip up is really a blessing in disguise. I think u both will be more echoed as time goes by and u get to see the first sonogram. Also doing the baby registry is always a fun thing to do. :

  • My husband and I just found out a few days ago too and I think we are both in shock. He is very cautious and more protective than normal but overall very excited for the good news! I have noticed my boobs have been sore and have been very tired, but most recently my scalp is really itchy? I read it's normal but very annoying!
