What a whirlwind of a week! Last Friday I had my 39 week appointment, and thank God I had one of the doctors who actually takes her time with appointments and explains things. We discussed the ultrasound I had the previous week, where my baby was measuring around 9 pounds, discussed the chance that the measurement is off, discussed the chance that it was correct, and then discussed the pros and cons of a vaginal and c-section delivery. We then decided on a section and before I knew it, I received a call saying the big day would be Monday, July 30!
The whole process was not bad at all! I received the epi and was singing along with the nurses in the OR. My anesthesiologist was probably one of the coolest people I have ever met, and he had me in great spirits. My mom was my support system since DH is deployed, and it was special. As the OB was doing the surgery, she called over the curtain to tell me I made a great decision because the baby was big! I swear it was as if one of the nurses had to jump on my chest to help help the baby out! Then I heard the most beautiful sound ever-- my baby cry! Which then made me cry of course!
Felicity Elizabeth was born at 8:17am weighing in at 9 pounds, 15 ounces and 20.5 inches long. She has the chubbiest cheeks and legs and is pure perfection in my eyes!
