So our case worker called this week, and our home visit will be on Monday the 12th and our interviews will be on the Thursday the 23rd!!!!
I am literally counting down the days. It has been 6 months since we started this whole process. I am so excited/nervous!!
Any advice?? I have been scouring the internet for helpful home study tips for the past few days.
;-)
Re: Dates!!
Yea!!!
Tips- don't look at it as pass or fail. Look at as a tutor coming into your home to evaluate and help you find risk areas.
My experience-- no white glove tests. Rather lots of talking about us (sort of fun....when was the last time someone wanted to sit and talk just about YOU!) and a review of home for safety things.
We found two areas that we needed to fix.... things I would have never thought about. One was a floor heater. We needed to buy child gates and send her a pic of them up so we could show that we could protect a child from hot floor heater vents. Simple stuff
Non-threatening.
PS- We have had several visits through the last two years w/our adoptions. Never once did they even take a glass of water. I wouldn't waste time baking or making snacks....
