Another post about sleep

LO has a sensitive stomach and needs to play after his last bottle in order to digest.  He plays after the bottle and we usually rock him to sleep.  I have never minded rocking him to sleep since we have twins and don't plan on anymore children.  But lately the last couple of weeks he has been waking up when we put him down and he cries so violently that he pukes everywhere. Thus we pick him up clean up give a new bottle rock to sleep all over again.   I should say that when he cries out in the middle of the night (about two to three times a week) we do CIO because we know he's had enough time to digest food and won't throw up.

This new thing has really thrown us for a loop especially because he shares a room with his sister and it disturbs her sleep.  I should add he is going through milestones, crawling and recently discovering he can sit up in his crib.  (He has sat up for a long time on his own but never did it in the crib before).

 Advice???

  • Sorry but I think I'm having serious reading comp. fail here because I'm not quite sure what advice you're asking for.  Are you asking about what to do in regards to him waking up and puking the moment you put him down?  If so, I would think you should give him the bottle much earlier to leave that room to digest.  In your second paragraph you talk about waking up at night.  It is possibly due to milestones because their brain activity has jumped.  Not much you can do there until he's mastered that new skill.  Do you have a sound machine that could possibly drown out the cries a bit more?

  • Yeah, I was asking about the throwing up...I've thought about doing the last bottle earlier, but we would have to do dinner much earlier...

  • If he's crying so hard he's physically making himself sick I would try holding him to comfort him til he sleeps or is drowsy and not crying rather than CIO. He could miss you, be uncomfortable etc no way to really know but letting him get upset crying probably isn't helping his sensitive stomach
