odd question...but do you wash toys that say not to machine wash?

Probably isn't a big deal either way...but do you wash the soft baby toys that say only surface wash?  (other than ones with sound/electronics of course)  Like ones with rattles and stuff?  I try to wipe them off but when they suck on them till they are soaked it seems gross just to wipe it off!  I feel like everything smells like spit up!  I just don't want to ruin anything...so I thought I'd ask

I hand was those toys. Depending on the toy I may hand wash them wish Dawn dishwashing detergent or leave them soaking in the sink with some Baby Oxiclean overnight.

I machine wash all cloth toys on gentle, even if they say surface clean only.  Haven't had a problem yet!

Sure. I have a friend who washes the ones that make noise if she gets to annoyed at them. If it stops them from singing/talking/etc. she just tells the kids to bad, it had to be washed.

Yes, I machine wash all cloth toys and put the plastic ones in the dishwasher. Even the ones that say surface wash. I haven't had any major problems yet. One of his cloth rattles had a mirror on it, and after the wash the mirror part was messed up, it looks crackled I guess. But that's the only thing I've had happen, and he still likes that rattle.

you can wash/dry them in a pillowcase and tie it off if you're worried about exploding toys getting fuzz/pellets everywhere.
