I'm retaining so much water I've totally given up keeping track of or paying attention to my weight gain. I gained over 10lbs in less than a week last week (Dr checked it out, I am fine). I am up to like 40, I give up. My body likes to cling to fluids. Oh well. I'll probably gain 60lbs. C'est la vie.
I am absolutely FLOORED that women have said they are against free (by free I mean the insurance companies covering the entire cost rather than there being co-payments/co-insurance to receive the services) preventative health screenings like mammograms, paps, prenatal care, free birth control, etc. I'm even more floored that they would cite violation of the 1st amendment as their argument for being against it especially when Obama was a total wussy when he said that religious institutions are not required to pay for those services but the health insurers are still required to provide them.
What. The. Fluck. Is. Wrong. With. People! How in your right mind could you be against preventative screenings. I'm completely miffed and outraged by these crazycakes.
Also, since I'm fired up, and the CFA thing came up yesterday I thought I'd also say that these people out there saying that gay marriage is against their religion and they, therefore, cannot condone or agree with it are making me want to vomit.

Marriage is no longer a religious institution, it's a legal right. No one is asking the churches to marry same sex couples, they are just asking that they have the same legal right to marry as the rest of us. It has nothing to do with your religious beliefs, especially since we are supposed to have a separation of church and state in the US. Get over yourselves and stop trying to stand in the way of basic human rights dillholes!
phew, I've had both of those topics pent up in my brain for the past few days and it feels GOOD to get them out. :::Rants over:::

This! Their argument is stupid! All of those diseases that these preventative measures are aimed to and all of the extra help on BF etc don't discriminate against your beliefs, you stupid morons!
Married my best friend 09.18.11 TTC since 12.10.11, BFP #1 02.10.12 Baby E born 10/18/12. 8.5lbs and 21in of pure perfection!

I heart you too Fobes! I have a lot of pent up anger from political issues this week.
I live in Montreal and the lovely province of Quebec is going through elections. I'm sick and tired of the students being on strike and asking for free education. Get over yourselves. Asking taxpayers to pay for YOUR schooling so you can stay there for 25 years instead of working like the rest of us is ridiculous. Especially since our university fees are peanuts compared to other provinces and other countries.
I'm sick and tired of the English vs French war. People in Montreal speak ENGLISH. French people get over it. If you don't like it, feel free to move to an area where they only speak French. The fact that you refuse to speak English is only detrimental to yourself.
Last but not least, I'm soooo fed up of people talking about this stupid "Quebec should be a nation and we should separate from Canada" thing. Quebec is a nothing without the rest of Canada and I would rather be dead than wave a Quebec flag, travel under a Quebec passport and become a Quebecer. Yuck!
My FSIL's bridal shower is tomorrow (they're getting married in December) and I am supposed to make the favors. I haven't started yet.I think the shower is way too early and I don't really want to do it.
Mine is really silly, but I can't help that I feel this way... I haven't taken DS to the zoo yet, mainly because it's been 110 degrees all summer and I knew I wouldn't last long enough to walk around everywhere. Tomorrow my IL's will be taking him and my SD to the zoo. I'm really sad that I won't be there for his first time. Actually I'm trying really hard not to cry about it. MIL is being great about it and told me she would take tons of pictures, but it's just not the same. It's really bothering me.
OK, so this is more of an embarrassing moment/confession than anything and I really can't believe I'm posting it.
So my hubby has been staying up really late working on remodeling a bedroom so we can use the current guest bedroom as the baby's room. I just cannot stay up as late as him anymore (we're talking 12-1 am) then he gets up an hour before me to leave for work. Crazy man. But anyways, this means our sex life has gone down the tube. It's not that we don't want to, but we NEVER are in bed/awake at the same time! So last night I got the "urge", so I broke out my old buddy Mr. Vibrator. It was great. Right up until I realized it made me bleed Which has not happened at all yet so it totally freaked me out! I'm so glad hubby didn't want to initiate anything last night because I would have totally been embarrassed to tell him why I didn't want to... sigh... I guess that will teach me to take matters into my own hands! (seriously)

I'm trying to ignore the fact that my brother's STB-ex wife is pregnant as well and due in Dec. When they got married, they agreed not to have kids. A few years later when DH and I got married and started trying, SIL suddenly wanted children and confessed to my mom and I that she was thinking of stopping bcp without telling DH. Well I guess she did. They were in the process of seperating prior to this news of her pregnancy. I have to say that part of what bothers me is that it took DH and I almost 3 years and multiple IVFs to get our daughter and she tricks him when he wants nothing to do with a child. We will see what happens once the baby is born.
TTC since Jan. 2010 DX Unexplained infertility
3 IUI's w/Clomid & Ovidrel=all BFNs 3 IVF (2 Fresh, 1 frozen) =BFN Jan 2012 New RE & Fresh Cycle =BFP!
We created a sleeping fairy that leaves treats under DD's pillow if she sleeps in her bed all night. At first it was marshmallows but I try to keep it a little healthier so it has been crackers and fruit and muffins! When we go to wake her up in the morning we slip it under there at that point so it doesn't get all smashed.
She freaking loves it. I know bribing a kid this way is a dangerous road to go down but getting a good nights sleep for the past couple of weeks has been really awesome.

So the former governor of AK called for ppl to show support for Chick Fil A this week. People in Auburn have been responding in droves. Like, 3 hour waits at each CFA in town. To the point where they are shutting down major streets in town because they are waiting in line to pull in to the drive through.
This makes me SO ANGRY.
Police are having to direct traffic around CFA locations.
So we are spending tax money so people can support CFA... and these profits will go straight into the pockets of Fat Cats... meanwhile the poor employees see not a dollar more to serve thousands of people a day instead of a hundred.... SOMEONE EXPLAIN THIS TO ME?
Also, since I'm fired up, and the CFA thing came up yesterday I thought I'd also say that these people out there saying that gay marriage is against their religion and they, therefore, cannot condone or agree with it are making me want to vomit.

AGREE! And saying that their gay marriage will somehow make my marriage less than what it is just makes me crazy. My husband and I were not married in a church. Does that mean we are less married than people who were? NOPE. (And I'm a Christian who proudly supports gay rights, especially gay marriage. I'm going to be the "best maid" in the wedding of my best friend when that day comes, and I can't wait to be part of it!)

To piggyback on this. I love everyone and I am a Christian. DH and I do not get crazy with the gay marriage debates because we believe that heterosexual marriages are crazy looking more and more. How on earth can I tell my lesbian sister her marriage to a woman would be ridiculous if Kim Kardashian's TV marriage to Kris Humphries lasted 72 days and straight people are jumping in and out of marriage like they are getting on rides at an amusement park. How can one group of people cast stones on another when there is so much messed up stuff wrong in the first place? I think before we get so judgy on others, we need to try to get our own selves together.
Jesus even says in the Bible:
?Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother?s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?4 How can you say to your brother, ?Let me take the speck out of your eye,? when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother?s eye.

I love this A LOT. If it makes you feel better you can refer to it as "positive reinforcement" instead of "bribe"
also - good job having a real confession.... for my confession I'm with the lady that creeps Sept....
I really, truly love being an Atheist. I was raised Catholic and I find not having a belief in God so much easier when dealing with life in general. I do confess though to being highly cynical of a belief in God and that if people did their research and really thought things through...Atheism would be a lot more prevalent in this world.

This part made me laugh - because we've been using toys (small $5 ones) to bribe Aaden to sleep in his big boy bed. It's worked very well but now we're out of toys to give. Why didn't I think of food? That's genius! But I think he's used to sleeping in there now and doesn't need bribery anymore.
Yesterday was a very slow day in my office. 1/2 my office is out on vacation and even with covering for 2 co-workers, I ran out of things to do 2 hours before I was to leave. I ended up calling up a book on my kindle app on my phone and reading those last 2 ours while at work. I've never read while on the clock before. I felt awful at first, but it beat staring at the clock.
I think tipping is getting out of control. I feel like I see tip cups everywhere suddenly, from Starbucks to subway to yogen fruz, I think it's a little ridiculous. If I have a really complicated order or you went above and beyond I'll tip, but I'm not putting it in a jar/cup, I'm going to hand it to you and say thanks. I get tips at my job but if I ever got a tip and didn't acknowledge it I would feel mortified. I also don't understand why people act like tips are guaranteed income, it's not the customer or clients job to pay you, it's an appreciative gesture for a job well done.

For it to be positive reinforcement you will need to start tapering the reward, which I imagine for your own sanity you would want to do anyway.

My confession is that I just started looking for child care. I figured since we only need it for three hours a day that it would be easier to find in home child care and we wouldn't want to start advertising too far ahead of when we would need it.
I don't understand why the Americans who would benefit most from the social program that every single other country in the world has are so against them.

Perfectly said! This is why I'm happy to be Canadian. Our government made same-sex marriage legal in 2006. I 100% believe that we have no right to tell others what to do just because our personal faith may be against it. It bothers me when people of faith will push some parts of the bible (ex: being against homosexuality) but then completely ignore another part (ex: submitting to husbands, dressing modestly, NOT JUDGING others, etc., etc.). I seriously want to put your entire post on a t-shirt esp. the part about heterosexuals treating marriage like an amusement park ride-could not agree more!!

So what you are implying is that if people have a belief in God, you don't believe they have done their research or "really thought things through?"
I believe it's not really possible to judge other people's experiences in this matter. Atheism works for you and that's great. There are people for whom Christianity works, and that's great too. To assume they haven't done their research or haven't really thought about it is pretty judgmental.
I have found that, in matters of faith, it's best just to live and let live. I don't assume anything about you because you are an atheist, just like I don't assume anything about someone who practices any other religion. To me, that's the easiest way to deal with life in general.
1st - I have my baby shower tomorrow and I just got an email from someone cancelling because they all of a sudden decided they wanted to take a last minute day trip. I mean, come on. Really? Lame. I'm totally judging.
2nd - I totally compare the people lining up in front of chick-fil-a to those people who stood in front of schools, restaurants and other places of business in support of racial segregation. To me people are trying to segregate a large portion of our population from having the basic right to get married simply because of their sexual orientation. It pisses me off to no end.

Agree with Angel song especially to the bolded part. I don't judge those who don't believe and I will agree that in some ways it is easier to not believe. To believe in God and be committed to that does to take work. In my life it is worth the work.
Also a lot of science is based on theories not research facts, so either way you are believeing in something that has not been proven.
EX: Big Bang theory or whether we have changed from lesser animals Both of those are "theories" and only theories. Even scientists disagree on the specifics of any of those. Plus, scientists are not some special group of purely objective people. They are human with the same need to justify their beliefs, support their personal opinions, etc. Science books flat out say the Earth's core is made of nickel, among other things. No one can truly know that, it is pure speculation presented as fact.
Ok sorry for that rant It is just that everyone is pretty much believing in a theory whether they are on the religous side or the science side. Research doesn't always prove anything.

Why in the world did you mother not tell your brother that your SIL was planning to stop her bcp without telling him??

I tip 80% of the time because I know from experience that those employees are dealing with demanding a$$holes most of the day and having BTDT I feel their pain and it's my way of "making up for" those types of customers. No, it is not a guaranteed income, but tips can make a huge difference in what you bring home when you are only making minimum wage to begin with.

Re: FFFC
Perhaps when the institution of marriage began however many hundreds of years ago it was a religious institution, however, we live in America in 2012. Marriage is no longer a religious institution, it's a legal right. You can go to a church and have marriage ceremonies until you are married to 20 different people, but without the licenses that are issued by the government, guess what folks, they aren't real.

Yuck!
Wow so glad I got that off my chest!
My FSIL's bridal shower is tomorrow (they're getting married in December) and I am supposed to make the favors. I haven't started yet.I think the shower is way too early and I don't really want to do it.
I guess I know what I'll be doing tonight....

(seriously)
3 IUI's w/Clomid & Ovidrel=all BFNs
3 IVF (2 Fresh, 1 frozen) =BFN
Jan 2012 New RE & Fresh Cycle =BFP!
Also on 3rd Tri:
?Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother?s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ?Let me take the speck out of your eye,? when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother?s eye.
*drops mic and walks off stage*
I think this is genius. We WILL be trying this tonight. One night's sleep is better than NONE!
LOL at first we were going to do money b/c she loves putting it in her piggy bank but we didn't want to step on the tooth fairy's toes so we went with food. She has since told me she thinks one day the sleeping fairy will leave her a toy. CRAP!
::::gives Candy the golf clap:::: that was so well said!
I love this A LOT. If it makes you feel better you can refer to it as "positive reinforcement" instead of "bribe"
also - good job having a real confession.... for my confession I'm with the lady that creeps Sept....
For it to be positive reinforcement you will need to start tapering the reward, which I imagine for your own sanity you would want to do anyway.
And I also creep September.
Candy4Steve, I agree with EVERYTHING you wrote...

I don't understand why the Americans who would benefit most from the social program that every single other country in the world has are so against them.
I was just IMinig with my friend who moved to Switzerland for a while. A year paid maternity leave. Free (bilingual preschool), health care, free education.
WTF is wrong with people? The right is totally pulling the wool over their eyes for their own financial gain!
Wow I'm so glad to see this! I'm in Quebec also and all my "friends" from high school and my college days are pro-strike, I'm freaking out. All my FB feed is hidden until that resolves because I want to punch every single one of these people (not for having an opinion but trying to force it to everyone else without legit arguments!)
I thought I was the only person in QC to think that way, don't get me wrong I love being able to speak French and living here but Canada FTW and I proudly display our red and white flag when traveling
Yes and you'd have to give better treats for longer sleeps make it "differential" hahah
Ok sorry for that rant
It is just that everyone is pretty much believing in a theory whether they are on the religous side or the science side. Research doesn't always prove anything.
