Child Support Question

Anyone know how long you have to wait to report delinquent payments?  We didn't go through a state agency, he is supposed to being paying me directly through a signed stipulation agreement filed with the Court.  Not surprised he isn't paying just wanted to see if anyone had any insights. Thanks!

Re: Child Support Question

  • I think it depends on the state. I've heard everything from three to nine months.

  • 30 days in Texas. Call the child support division in your state. With SD, it's in our orders that he was granted good faith and he pays me directly. If he is 30 days delinquent, it gets payroll deducted. This was to get me payments before the attorney general took over. It's also in the order that if the AG is providing services, it's payroll deducted. Always, where ever possible, request wage garnishment. Most states prefer it that way.
