I'm having a c-section due to a prior uterine surgery and I know they'd like to have me avoid starting labor.
The scheduler called me today and let me pick my day (I based it off when the dr I wanted was available). Right now I'm scheduled for 39w4 days ( a monday) my other option was 39w0d.
I'm glad I get to hang on to the baby a few days longer but wondering if they'll decide it's too close to my due date.
Re: How close to your due date could you schedule your c-section?
i'm having a scheduled C/S for this next one due to emerg csection on the last one and my hips are too damn small.
i was told i'd be booking a week before my due date to avoid labour - 39w4d seems a little long but your Dr won't allow it if they're not comfortable.
i'd leave it for now and see what the Dr says
I would go as late as I could. My due date is 9/17 and I am scheduled for 9/13. I really pushed for the 14 since it is a Friday and would work best for DH's work schedule, but the doc was booked.
Also, DS's labor lasted 36 hours so I feel like if I were to go early I'd have more than enough time to get to the hospital.
Currently mine is scheduled for 39wks 2days. I was told they schedule c-sections on Mondays or Tuesdays if possible, as long as I'm at least 39weeks. I will be 39weeks on a Saturday so Monday October 15th is my Earliest option without them allowing me to have my c/s 1 day before 39weeks.
My Dr. does seem a bit concerned about going into labor before the scheduled c/s, in which he told me if I go into labor they will do my c/s immediately.
I was 39w0d when my son was born, and I suspect I'll be roughly 39w this time around as well.
I haven't been to my first appointment yet, so I haven't talked to my OB yet.
DD1 was a c/s after failure to progress. I dilated to 9cm and then started swelling closed. She was 10 days late.
DD2 was going to be an attempted vbac, but my OB would only let me go to my due date. I had a c/s scheduled for 2 days late, and DD2 was born by c/s then. I had absolutely no signs of labor.
In my case, if I went into labor early, I could just go in and have the c/s done. (I don't think my OB would let me try a vbac at this point.)
If they don't want you to go into labor at all, you may have to schedule something sooner. They'll keep a close eye on things as you get closer to your due date, so they may just let you keep that date and change things if you end up progressing sooner.
