I scheduled a sit down meeting with the soon to be father next weekend and I know we have alot to go over but with this being my first child I am lost as to what questions to ask or what topics need to be covered. Any help would be great !
I would ask about medical coverage for your pregnancy. Will he help you to pay for your medical bills?
Is he interested in coming to Drs appointments and u/s?
Ask him what he has in mind regarding custody just feel him out.
Also ask about child support.
Baby purchases and health insurance should be discussed too. Hmm I went through that a while ago, so I dont remember anything else for now.
All this plus whether or not he's willing to help out with child care. (Some states have child care separate from child support).
Ask if he's willin to take a parenting and/or a coparenting course.
Medical history. Blood type. Family medical history (diabetes, cancer, blood pressure, etc)
Make sure you know what rights you exclusively want, and stick your ground. Example, I requested sole medical and religious rights. Look up your state's statutes regarding custody, visitation and child support.
I am about 23 weeks and when i first told him he said he wants to go to doc appointments and he has only made it to one - the first one- and he said he wants 50/50 because he cant afford child support. I dont want him to have any custody- he has not given any effort this far - i dont even know his family or any friends so i dont trust him- but as far as child care. when I am at work during the day my mom will watch her since she works from home. but when my mom goes to work before i get done I have a LONG time family friend that said she will watch for hour or so until i can pick her up- do i count that as "child care" I do plan on paying them but idk if that actually counts. and I am on state health insurance so the baby is covered under mine but do i need to have him put baby on his as well to make sure everything is covered?? and what do you mean baby purchases?? We dont even see each other or talk to each other - He is even doubting me that it is his- so he isnt planning on doing anything or taking any responsibility until the test comes back. so that puts me in awkward position.
