I want to start weaning LO a bit before her first bday. Looking for any tips from moms who have successfully done so or are in the process. Should i start substituting a1/3 of her bottle with WCM for a week then a 1/2 and so on. Should i continue with the bottle or switch to a sippy now? As of right now she only uses the sippy for water
TIA
Re: WCM?
What I have seen around here posted is to do it gradually like so:
75% formula, 25% milk
50% formula, 50% milk
25% formula, 75% milk
until they are 100% on milk. I would offer in a sippy cup since she already uses a sippy for water.
I just started giving my LO WCM in a straw cup at meal times. I didn't mix it with breastmilk and didn't heat it up. Turns out he loves WCM and doesn't mind it cold. I've been cutting back on nursing sessions at home/bottles at daycare with his increase in solids and it's working well for us.
I've seen people mix as well, but wanted to let you know you don't have to.
This is what we're doing. We're 50/50 right now and DD does really well with it, so I may bump her up to 75% WCM tomorrow.
Honestly, I just dumped in a sippy one day to see if she would take it. We had no issue so I just traded her over.
It was the easiest with the least amount of stress. If she wouldn't of drank it, then I'd have gone back and mixed for awhile.
