Background: DD showed signs of MSPI at 4 weeks, went on Neocate full time at 4 months, switched to Alimentum at 11 months, and slowly started transitioning to whole milk at 1 year.
The transition seemed to be going so well, and for the most part it still does, but she has developed a dry cough over the last two weeks that has been a concern for us and now we are wondering if it is from the milk.
The cough is worst at night and comes in "fits" on coughing that will wake her up and it almost sounds like she might throw up. It was initially absent during the day, but we are seeing more and more of it as each day goes on. She has no other symptoms, and doesn't even seemed to be bothered by it except when it is happening and the fact that it is disrupting her sleep.
The trust internet leads me to believe this could be GERD caused by the milk? And input from people who have a similar experience?
Thanks!! You all are so helpful!
Re: Dairy causing dry cough from GERD?
Definitely could be. Your situation sounds similiar to ours. We transitioned from Alimentum to WCM at 13 months with no problems. A few months later her reflux started to get worse, then she developed a dry cough at night, then her BM's got really loose and turned into diarhhea. We went back to our pedi who reccomended allergy testing. Sure enough..milk and soy allergies.
She has been milk free for a month now and is doing much better.
