Baby Names

Sorry for being a PW but I just found this

So I was looking to see if Evalyn is a legit spelling of Evelyn (behindthename says it is) and I found Avaline. How would you pronounce this? BTN says AVA-leen but I would think AVA-line, like Madelyn/Madeline, the -line ending is pronounced that way. What do you think of this name and how would you pronounce it if you saw it?

There are a lot of really pretty names related to Evelyn.  https://www.behindthename.com/name/avila/related

    Keen = leen

    Same as emmeline, which is pronounced emma-leen.

  • As much as the prononciation doesn't match up in my mind, I think Ava-leen is easier to say than Ave-line. I just don't know if others would get the same pronounciation.

  • I would say -leen as well. It reminds me of the character Aibileen from the book "The Help"

  • Either way, it's pretty

  • I think of it as Ava-line like Madeline, I keep trying to say Ava-leen out loud and it just doesn't sound right to me.

  • Ava-leen FTW. Sounds prettier than Ava-line or w/e, too, IMO.

  • I would have said Ava-leen & I like it. [I don't like the spelling Evalyn, you can still use the nn Eva with Evelyn]

    I think this is a beautiful name! I may be bias because my daughters name is Avalina (pronounced with a soft a, not like the name ava). So, when I read the name, I said it ava-leen. I think you could say it ava-line and it wouldn't be too weird or made up. i like either.
