Maryland Babies

I need you help!

So my son's birthday is in the middle of October. I live in Baltimore city and we are looking at about 35+ people and again...I live in the city.

I stress this because where are 35 people going to park.

So I was thinking about renting a pavilion in a park.

Does anyone know any good ones?

 Or maybe a small place?

I am not rich by any means so any ideas have to be affordable.

I thank you for any help. I'm pulling my hair out about this.

  • How old os your son? Will the party be a bunch of kids or mostly adults?  Are you looking for something activity oriented or just a big open space?

Oregon Ridge Park in Hunt Valley (about 20 min north of the city) has pavillions that they rent.  I am sure other parks do as well.  The Baltimore County Parks and Recreation page has a list of all the parks in Baltimore County and what amenities are offered at each.  https://www.baltimorecountymd.gov/Agencies/recreation/countyparks/index.html

When I was a kid bowling and skating rink parties were a big hit.  You could also look for one of those indoor bounce house places or Little Gym.  Kiddie Crusoe is a fun place in Timonium. https://kiddiecrusoe.com/

If you just want a big empty room, look for a VFW or an American Legion. Many of those have party rooms that they rent out.  The Towson American Legion has a nice room: https://towsonamericanlegion.org/

  • It might also be worth thinking about how many cars we're actually talking about.  35 people - but how many families?  Are there people that would carpool?  At the end of the day, we might be talking about less than 10 cars - which would give you some more flexibility.

  • There are lots of restaurants/bars that have spaces you can use to hold a party. We had my daughter's first birthday party at the now defunct Muggsy's.

As for parking, make sure that you don't have it on a game day. Most neighborhoods have parking garages. If you were having it at your house and you live in a parking area you can get one day passes from the parking dept on Lombard.

  • What about the zoo or one of the arboritums (sp?) or Patterson Park or another park?

Where in the city are you?
