So we are transitioning from RNP to crib, tonight will be the 4th night and she's been sleeping better on her tummy. I don't like it but her ped says its ok as long as she gets there herself. But I have been noticing that sometimes she sleeps with her face planted right in the mattress. Anyone else's LO do this? Nothing is in the crib with her except her paci.
Re: Tummy sleeping/face planting?
As disconcerting as it is, she's probably ok sleeping that way. She has enough coordination to move her head if she can't breathe. Babies have little pug noses meant to help them breathe while smooshed against a boob, so my inclination is to say she's probably ok.
Good to know! My DD was supposed to have her 6 month well baby today but it got rescheduled for the end of this month. Kind of a bummer bc I wanted to ask about all this. Plus she will be over 7 mo then. Sigh.
Just chiming in to say my DD has done this, too, and it's awful - so hard to relax! She recently fell asleep while nursing and her face fell into my boob and she jerked herself awake, so that helped me feel a little better that she has control of that now. I'd still prefer she didn't do it!
Mine doesn't crawl yet, but on her tummy she can turn 360 degrees and sort of scoot. Last night she slept in the same position all night but randomly moved her face side to side and the occasional face plant. I checked on her a few times. I'm working on not being neurotic about it but I guess I just have to get used to it since she only just started tummy sleeping on Sunday night, before that she was in the RNP at night.
