Why I don't like BabyWearing...

Hi! I've never posted on here before but figured this would be a good place to come for some advice; hope you don't mind.

The subject line of this post is a little misleading. I love babywearing in theory, but in practice my problem is: what do you use as a diaper bag?!

I have a CuddlyWrap, which is just like a MobyWrap. I'd like to use it more often for DS2, but I often dont because it makes carrying a diaper bag/purse really inconvenient. Obviously I cant wear it across my shoulders as I usually do b/c then the strap goes across LO.  I often resort to using the stroller b/c then I have somewhere to put my stuff.

What do you do for diaper bags when you wear baby? TIA

  • I often got very minimalist in what I carried. I can wear a bag over one shoulder, or I put it across my body but under the baby. My ring sling has a pocket big enough to tuck in a diaper, wipes, and my wallet/keys.

  • Thanks! I usually carry very little with me too, even with 3 kids, so I often use just my purse. Under the wrap is a good idea; I never thought of that! And I could do one shoulder but with chasing and holding the hands of 2 other kids it's annoying to have it keep slipping off.

  • A backpack might also work. I usually carry the free nestle one-shoulder backpack (I'm sure you've seen them, they're everywhere, black outside with a bit of green on the side pocket).

Yeah,I had that one with DD. But I dont know where it is! But, yes, perhaps a backpack style is exactly what I need.

Any recommendations on a good sized "diaper bag" back pack. Obviously I dont want a whole school bag style.

  • A regular old backpack.

  • My diaper bag can be worn as a back pack so when i was wearing DS on my front or hip I would wear it that way. It can also be worn on my shoulder and would wear it that way if he was on my back. I also would sometimes tuck in a small travel box of wipes, a CD, and a tiny wet bag in a small zipper bag and tuck it into my wrap for short trips.

  • I got a Bumble collection Chloe convertible diaper bag.  It can be a messenger style, a hobo style, or backpack, and came with stroller straps.  Big enough for everything, but still not gigantic, and stylish.  It was my "big" splurge with my 2nd.

  • I have a slingyroo, it's made for babywearing. In fact, people always ask me if my bag is part of my wcrs or wrap when I'm out because they are similar patterns. It's made from a wrap, and hugs your baby's body when worn.  Best purchase ever.

I wear a ring sling and use a big back-pack.  I'd love to go minimalist but my kiddos won't have it.  Not sure what we'll do when we switch over to a SSC and do a back-carry position but I think may involve a fanny-pack.  LOL. Indifferent
Ergo makes a diaper bag that can be clipped onto the Ergo carrier! It can also be carried separately and reminds me of a bowling bag. I got one for my husband since he claimed the Ergo as his carrier.

    Oh, that's very cool looking!

Thanks ladies! I bought a good-sized backpack tonight that I think should work well :)
