S/O Flying

DD and I are flying next week. She will be a lap child. The flight is only one hour long, but you know how hard it is for a 20 month old to sit still for an hour. Can anyone recommend a toy or two that I could buy and breakout for the flight to keep her busy? TIA!

  • No judging here! You reminded me to stock up on the motts for tots gummies...I could feed those to her for an hour, and she would probably be happy as a clam. I will probably borrow my H's kindle too - maybe we can watch a yo gabba gabba episode or two.

  • If you only have a 1-hour flight, I would skip the Kindle. It will be more trouble than it's worth if LO gets upset when you have to turn it off during takeoff and landing.

This was amazing on the plane:

And my favorite trick is that I had smallish ziploc bags with snacks, a few small toys, household items that are child-safe, my makeup stuff, etc., and then I put ALL of those ziploc bags in one gallon-size ziploc bags. He spent about 30 minutes on one flight just opening, emptying, refilling all the bags.

One hour is nothing, but I know it's stressful just worrying about it and getting through security. Good luck!

We also boarded at the last minute. Some people thought this was odd. But this way we basically slid in our seats, got situated and took. I had no desire to sit and occupy them for 15 minutes before even taking off.

This is what I really wanted to do this past trip, but for some reason, DH was adamant that we needed to board with our zone.

  • Travel Magna Doodle, Quiet Book, or Portable DVD player were lifesavers on our recent trip.
