I was surfing another board and snorted with laughter when a poster said she wanted her husband to check her cervix and see if she was dilated so they didn't go into the ER needlessly.
Please, no one but your doctor or MW or medical professional trained in that should be checking. They have zero idea what they're doing or looking for. And though slight, they could break your water and/or introduce an infection.
Re: PSA: Cervix checking
Oh WOW.
That is completely idiotic.
Wow.
Yeah, no kidding!! Honestly, I don't even want an intern checking me, I know they need to learn, but sorry, not on my vag.
Here's a question I was wondering last night (s/o dilation) - I know at 10cm you can start pushing, but can you dilate past 10cm? Just wondering...
the scariest part is that this even has to be said.
Could you imagine calling your OB, MW, Doula..whatev & saying "hi there, just calling to let you know I am 3cm & 50%...I'll keep you posted"
haha - I'd love to see/hear the reaction that.
The only way this is a good idea is if her DH was an actual doctor.

I don't think so but I'm not sure. I think that's all your body needs to push baby out so that's as far as it goes? I'm not a medical professional though so don't quote me.
W.T.F
Seriously. MH wouldn't know what the f*ck he was doing (that is, if I was dumb enough to ask him to check it out for me...).
No, we don't measure anything past 10. It's pretty much considered the finish line
YAY! You may stretch a little more but once you're a 10, you're a 10. I'm not an L&D nurse, but as an RN L&D is part of the rotation.
It wouldn't have even crossed my mind had I not read (and had a good laugh) at the other post.
I meant no offense to you at all - just the fact that there are people out there actually trying to do their own internals is sad, lol!

Really? Seriously? Why would anyone think this is a good idea? I don't even want my doctor doing any internal - nevermind MH! People are so stupid!
This makes me laugh. We breed doxies and DH has had to deliver a whole bunch of them. So he said if it came down to it, he could deliver our baby.
