Are you already planning what to get your LO for Xmas and Bday?

Do you have any traditions in your family what the baby's first gift should be?

I know it's still a few months away but I'm so excited about the first Xmas and Bday:)

I also can't wait for Halloween!

I haven't really given it much thought. H and I don't usually do gifts at all for Christmas and birthdays, so this will be a huge paradigm shift for us. Since DD arrived early, we already had her first Christmas; we started her college fund as her gift. This year it will probably be more college money and a few things wrapped up that we would have ended up buying her anyway.

I am super excited about the first year (maybe this year?) that she will think it is fun to unwrap things and throw wrapping paper all over the room.

Yes, I can't wait!  My mom already bought him a bike trailer for his 1st birthday (she got it as soon as she found out she was going to be a grandma haha).  

I have been looking through Toys R Us online, wondering what to get him.   I'm interested in what other people are doing too, I have very limited experience with children so I don't know what they'll be ready for at that age.

I don't know what to do. Sometimes I think I'm overly practical, but I don't want to regret not getting something memorable. This is a good reminder to keep my eyes open for something fun for LO.

My grandmother always got each of us an ornament for the Christmas tree. We loved pulling them out every year and still do! I really like this tradition because its something they can keep and actually see each year too so I think we are going to do it for DS.

I am one of the few people in the world who hates christmas so I'm dreading it. We don't get each other gifts and we never put up a tree and I don't really intend to start. I have to try and reign in my mom, my sister, and MIL so I'm hoping to compromise with them and say they can buy all the gifts they want if we don't have to perpetuate the 'santa-clause-lie' as I call it.

Birthdays are different though- I'm sure we'll have a huge party for his 1st.

I'm more excited for birthday, but Christmas should be fun as we're visiting a bunch of family about a week before who don't get to see DS often.  I'm not getting him much because I'm sure they will.  His first birthday is another matter.  We'll get him some big boy toys like one of those toys he can hold onto the bar and walk with and balls and such.  Pretty much whatever I think he'd want to play with until age 2.  We don't go crazy on toys anyway, so I think I'll depend on family getting him some cool toys for Christmas.

I'm not a fan of birthdays for babies and toddlers, so we won't be doing anything big for several more years (think...4 or 5 yo, at least). For his first birthday, I will probably get him a toy or two or a new piece of clothing. 

Christmas is a bigger deal but with him so young, it is more meaningful to us than to him. Therefore, we will probably get him a book, pair of pajamas, and maybe some things that we were already anticipating on buying.
