Really Bad Pregnancy Carpal Tunnel

I am FTM and have really painful carpal tunnel in both wrists-- they feel soo weak when i write and try to lift up off the bed/couch, etc and ache around the bone on the wrist-- i soak them in epsom salt and take tylenol and wear the wrist braces- dr says that is pretty much all i can do.... this sucks!

Same here! Except I get it bad in my fingers mostly, the wrists aren't as achy.

Nothing I do seems to help either, and my oh-so-helpful OB tells me it will go away after LO is born.

I totally feel your pain!  If I hold something as small as the phone for more than 10 minutes the pain is excruciating!  I have to switch hands while driving and if I bend my wrist the wrong way, I literally yelp in pain.  My doc told me there isn't much I can do except go to a orthapedic for a steriod shot and I don't want to do that.

     Hang in there!

I feel your pain too! Every morning my fingers and wrist hurt like hell. I can't open and close my hands until I stretch/rub them for 10 minutes or so. Doc told me the same thing, it is normal and will go away after birth. Still really painful though! My fingers hurt all day long and look really fat. Probably one of my worst symptoms yet!

I've had carpal tunnel since I was 22. From week 17 on, it was excruciating. I would literally wake up in tears every morning. My OB referred me to an orthopedist (who was also a hand specialist) for cortisone shots in both wrists, and it was like a miracle. I should have done it sooner! If you're really in a lot of pain, ask your OB about this. Both doctors said the cortisone is perfectly safe for the baby.

Ditto this. I had with my first pregnancy and ended up with cortisone injection in my one affected wrist. Mine got so severe I could not grasp anything (so weak it'd just drop out of my hand) and my thumb, index & middle finger became numb where I couldn't feel anything 24/7. However, mine was so bad for so long that I think it did permanent damage, as mine never went away after DD was born. I ended up having surgery to correct 1 year PP.

Luckily this time I've had a mild case (fixed with splint at night) on my other wrist.

My right hand has been super tingly for the last 2 days.  Carpal tunnel sucks.

Yep, join the club. Mine is mostly finger numbness. I asked both my OB and PCP for a referral for cortisone shots...they both said no - grrrrrr!

I have more the tingly fingers and super painful fingers in the am.  they tingle most of the day!!  Today I noticed that one of my wrists just hurts and my thumb also is painful.  I founf that keeping a ice pack ( the kind for injuries not to keep food cold) in the fridge (so that it stays squishy).   then I use it in the morning to squeeze repeatedly and it helps loosen my fingers up.
