Stupid question. What time are you having LO's first birthday? I was thinking 2-4 but some friends of mine mentioned that is prime nap time for a lot of kids. DS naps like 10-1 and then after 4 (if i am lucky enough for a 2nd nap).

Re: Code Buttercream: First birthday times?
Ours will be on a Saturday at 3pm. DD will (hopefully) have gotten her afternoon nap by then, and I really can't factor in everyone else's nap schedule. However, we are only having 4 other kids there, so I guess it might be more of an issue if you are expecting a ton of infants and preschool age kids.
We went to one this weekend that was at 2:30. It was perfect in terms of the birthday boy's naptime. We were there till 5something, so LBB took his nap toward the end.
I think we're going to aim for ours a little earlier just because evenings are never fun for babies and LBB needs a late afternoon/early evening nap. We decided on 1pm for a start so we can get everything set up and LBB can have his mid-morning nap before the party.
The only first birthday party we've gone to was in the late morning (I think 10 or 11ish) until the birthday girl's nap at around 1. But Lily was the only other baby there (and she slept through the whole thing anyway, right in the middle of the room LOL) and the birthday girl didn't take morning naps anymore.
Lily's naps aren't at set times, they vary day to day. And the only other kids who will be at her party are the birthday girl from above and her new sister (arriving in the next couple of weeks!). The newborn will still be in the sleep anywhere stage, and the older girl can nap in our pnp or Lily's crib, so I'm not worried about working around naps. We might do a lunch thing and then hang out after, but since it's going to be small I don't think we need to set exact times. We'll probably say people can show up anytime after 11am and then just let the day unfold.

that would be a perfect time if toddlers will be there. right after nap and then you'll get them worn out for bed! we had my sons party from 11-2 and I assumed he would take a nice long nap afterwards. I was wrong. he was super hyper from cake and the excitement and stayed up til bedtime and was a hot mess for the next few days.

All the 1st birthdays we have gone to recently have been from 1-3 or 1-4.. so I was thinking around the same time.
I guess I'm lucky in the sense that L doesn't usually fuss during the day if there's a lot of people around, so I will be banking on that for her party haha.
