Side effects of stopping progesterone/crinone

I was instructed to stop taking my progesterone pills and crinone yesterday. This made me nervous to begin with but I knew it had to happen at some point and I trust my doctor. Now this morning I am having bad stomach pains/cramps. I can't tell if they are related to my digestive system or something else. I wouldn't be surprised if is things just trying to make its way through my system since I've had pretty bad constipation. Either way, I wanted to see if anyone else had experienced this when stopping progesterone? No spotting or anything, if there was I would call my OB.

I was on a progesterone suppository and after I stopped I didn't notice any side effects. I also get some pretty brutal cramps related to constipation, having some today in fact. Hope everything is fine for you.

I didnt notice anything when i stopped.  I stopped at exactly 10w.

I didn't have any side effects when I stopped taking prometrium at 10 weeks but I have definitely had bouts of cramping.  Your uterus is growing and sometimes it can be quite painful.  I had a few moments of scary cramping early on.

I just came on to ask a similar question, actually. I went off my prog supps yesterday (10w) and this morning I've having a sharp, poking sort of pain in my right lower abdomen. It's not so much a cramp as a real sharp poke or pinch all of a sudden. I think I'm going to call my OB at lunch just to get his opinion.

Mine is more an overall cramping.. I really do think its my intestines. I would like to hear what your OB says though after you speak with them.

I didn't have any s/e when I stopped prog. Though, I did have some AWFUL cramps from constipation during 1st tri. I remember one day it was so bad, I was just waiting for the red flow to start, but turned out it was just gas bubbles. I ended up taking citracel daily and colace every couple days and it seemed to help! Hope that's all yours are!

I had no side effects to stopping my progresterone. If your dr says it's safe trust him/her. For the constipation (I had it BAD) try drinking prune juice every morning. I works wonders! GL!

I titered down on my progesterone suppositories (cut down from 2 x daily to 1 x daily for a week - then went cold turkey) so I didn't experience any side effects. But I did notice that my constipation got a LOT better after going off the suppositories.

I also get bad gas/constipation cramping so it could be that. As long as you aren't noticing spotting or anything like that I wouldn't be alarmed. If it gets really bad of course call your doctor just to make sure, but it sounds like a coincidence.

I didn't have any side effects when I stopped. I have had pretty bad constipation also and have had really bad stomach pains and cramps off and on even while on progesterone. You might just be feeling the effects of being constipated.

I was on 800mg of progesterone until 11 weeks.  I had no side effects at all when I stopped, but I have experienced bad stomach pains and cramping from constipation over the past month.  If you are worried, it can't hurt to call your OB!
