Do you still rock Lo to sleep?

I do, and I love it. I have no intentions of stopping. But am I the only one?

  • DD is having none of this anymore.  She won't cuddle anymore Sad

  • I definitely still do! Its part of the nightly routine: PJs, book in the rocking chair, then final feed in the rocking chair. I absolutely love the quiet time with DS (and knowing that DH is finishing cleaning up our dinner is a bonus).

My DS isn't either, I always try for a few minutes to calm him down but when he gets to squirmy he gets laid down in the crib.

  • Awww I am afriad LO will soon be to this point:( She has always been a snuggler and I love it! I don't care if she is 7mo I love that time together. Like you ladies said it doesn't last forever so we should enjoy it:)

  • I still cuddle with my DD a lot. I don't rock her to sleep anymore, meaning she gets her jammies on, has her bottle, then we cuddle in the rocking chair until she's just about to fall asleep. Then I put her in the crib and she's out within 2 minutes max.

I will keep this up as long as I can. But I think she's just a very cuddly little thing and have the feeling it will keep on going :)

  • We still nurse to sleep at night, and for naps sometimes. The last few nights have actually been kind of rough, like she's fighting going to sleep, but for the most part it is a very easy, cry-free bedtime routine for us - I feel like when she's ready, she'll outgrow it, she won't nurse to sleep forever, and if it ain't broke...

  • Yes, because he still has sleep issues (even when STTN, going-to-sleep ritual is intense).

He is not a cuddler either, so I sit in the rocking chair, put him on my lap facing out and just rock.  Usually takes about 9 minutes.  I'm trying to watch his face for when he is just getting drowsy and put him down then, to ease the transition, but it's hard since he is facing away from me.

  • Haven't since 3 months.  It's actually harder to rock him to sleep than it is to just lay him down in the crib and let him soothe himself.  When I try to rock him he squirms and squawks for a good 20 minutes before giving up.  He's not much of a cuddler :(

    This.

    Double this.

I wish I could rock mine. since about age 2 months she only likes to sit if she's nursing. otherwise she wants to be moving around or seeing different things.

  • I have never rocked her to sleep.  I cuddle with her tons and I always rock her when she is upset or during feedings.  But at night when she is hanging out with us, I wait until she starts rubbing her eyes a bunch, then I feed her, change her then put her in bed.  Even if she falls asleep eating, she often wakes up when I lay her down and starts laughing and kicking.  She loves being put in bed.  Then I put on her seahorse, give her her little blankie and leave her... 9 times out of 10 I don't hear a peep and she just goes to sleep.  She is excellent at bed time.  But before you get jealous, she does still wake up 2-3 times a night, haha.

  • We rock/cuddle during the last nursing session.  He loves eating more than sleeping, so he needs some coaxing to get sleepy.  I figure he'll get squirmy when he's ready to give that up.
