Allergy meds during TTC?

What are the options?  I have a history of seasonal allergies which are normally controlled by Zyrtec but this summer has been terrible.  I have an appointment on Wednesday with an allergist but I don't really know what they are going to say.  I've tried Zyrtec, Claritan, Allegra, even all the ones with "D" in it.  I've been taking Benedryl at night but it makes me really groggy the next day and I obviously can't take it every night especially considering I'm taking other stuff during the day.

So....what does everything think?  Any advice?  I don't know what is safe.  I'd like to take nothing for the chance we get KU but I just can't survive day to day with these allergies.

I had been taking Zyrtec D since early spring, but I was advised to stop after my post-coital test because it was completely drying me out of CM. I did a diagnostic cycle with Mucinex to increase CM and I have just been toughing out the allergies. Sorry, I'm sure that's not what you want to hear!

I take zyrtec liquid gels and I take benadryl when things are bad. I also switched nasal sprays to rhinocort. I highly suggest using a nettie pot daily and also saline nasal spray they do wonders.

I just asked this question on 3T! Isn't it SOOOO frustrating? Claritin does so little for me; I'm so sad that I have to give up my Allegra.

I used Pascallerg last year (homeopathic treatment) and it worked some. It didn't work as well as my regular stuff did, but it made it slightly better. It didn't have any negative effects on my CM, and I'm pretty sure it's safe when TTC? (Might want to double-check, but my ND told me to take it while she knew we were actively TTC.)

BUT, (that's a big but) I was told that alot of people have had their allergies not be as bad after using it. After suffering for years from my allergies (seasonal only, so I'm not sure if there's others that you're worried about?) I can happily say that I have not had to take a single pill this year! Not a single sinus infection either, which I get every time I stop taking my allergy meds. (Or get lazy and don't take them fast enough)

I've been trying unsuccessfully to get DH to take it, but he's stubborn.

I have tons of allergies and have been getting allergy shots for the past 3 years. I was taking Allegra every day for a while and I ended up with a cyst on my ovary. My gynecologist said the cyst was likely from the allergy meds, my allergist said it's not likely. The two doctors are actually cousins, so I'm pretty sure they argue about it at family get-togethers, lol. Who knows if the meds caused the cysts, but I limit myself to the neti-pot now. I only take benadryl if I'm having a severe reaction to something.

I haven't been too active over there but thanks!  I'm going to try the Neti Pot but I have to get over the "grossness" of it first   I'm hoping the allergist has some answers for me tomorrow.

My allergist and RE have both been fine with me continuing to get allergy shots. It's not something to start while you're pregnant, but if you start beforehand, it's perfectly safe. The only danger of allergy shots is the risk of anaphalatic shock and that risk is the same, pregnant or not.

UPDATE....I had my appt yesterday and the testing showed I'm not allergic to any foods tested but I'm allergic to almost every environmental allergy

He doesn't want to jump into allergy shots just yet.  He researched the options regarding pregnancy while we were there an said the only class B nasal spray is Rhinocort.  Of course my insurance is requiring me to use something else and/or have a prior authorization for it.  So now I'm waiting to hear back on that.  It's $158 out of pocket other wise.  I follow up in three weeks.  He also wants me to restrict my diet to food containing mold and then add them back one by one to see if that effects anything.  I'll let you know if anything exciting happens lol
