Cute girls name or doughnut? (clicky)

So DH and I LOVE the name Elaina Claire. I think it sounds really feminine. I thought we were set until someone mentioned Eclair. Now I feel everyone will think that! Help me out. Do I keep searching for a mn?

  • Maybe change to Alaina so you don't have the long e sound.

I was thinking the same thing. I pronounce Elaina and Alaina the same, but at least it looks different. Though, I think the way you have it is fine :)

  • How funny, I would not have thought eclair but I am sure someone else would. That is ok though. Yummy.

  • I don't think I would've thought of eclair had you not mentioned it, when you brought it up I thought of a doughnut. Elaina is NMS though but I don't think you should worry about the eclair "association."

  • Her name doesn't remind me of a donut, but you just did and now I'm hungry!!! Lol

Not a doughnut. And unless she goes around introducing herself as Elena Claire, nobody will get the doughnut reference

I think she'd have to go around introducing herself as E Claire for people to get the reference.

This.  A possible association with a delicious pastry would not keep me from using a name I liked.  If it were E Coli or something, that would be another story.

  • LOVE it! That is so funny because my DD's name is Eloise Claire and my husband mentioned the Eclaire association. It didn't stop us from using the name just because of the pastry! And I love the name Elaina Claire!
  • I am assuming Claire is a middle name, so really how often, after her birth announcement, will most people even know about the Claire, let alone make the eclair connection.  I think it's a cute name and it flows well and I would still use it.

How often do you think of someone as their first initial followed by their middle name??  Never in my life has someone called me E.Noel.  In fact, now that I think of it, I know a baby called Ella Claire, and I've never thought of eclares.  I think you're overthinking it.  It's a beautiful name - go for it!!

Great name! My DD is Eloise Clare :)

We didnt think about the Eclaire connection until my dad pointed it out after she was born. Now that is his nickname for her and I think it's cute.
