  • We use Hydrocortisone 0.5% cream once daily (right before bed) when she has a flare up and we see results very quickly from that.

On a day to day basis, we use the Aveeno Eczema lotion, it's like a cross between cream and Aquaphor and it works very well.

  • I use Aveeno Eczema lotion on DS.  Very occasionally I will have to put a dab of hydrocortisone cream on the backs of his knees (that's where his gets the worst).  I also bathe him every day, but only use soap every other day.  I use the Aveeno soothing baby wash on the nights I use soap.  He was diagnosed at 4 months, and once I started this routine he pretty much has baby soft skin!

Oh and I think I did use Aquaphor at first and it worked pretty well too.

DS has a moderate case...we use hydrocortisone or steroid cream when it gets bad, bathe once a week, use cetaphil cream (not lotion) and neosporin eczema essentials lotion and aquaphor. Dr said moisturizing constantly is all you can really do to manage it. We're going to make an appt with an allergist to see if we can pinpoint the trigger.  I have to put socks on his feet and hands to prevent him from itching. It's been pretty awful...I'm hoping he grows out of it.

  • Sea Buckthorn oil is a miracle cure for mine and all my skin problems, you'd have to ask your doc if it's safe for babies, but I'd much prefer that over steroids. I had a bad breakout of exema and it was gone within four days.  If baby can't you could tell your DH about it.

  • Aquaphor or Eucerin.  They make a baby version.

For the mild eczema on his cheeks, we use aquaphor.  If that doesn't resolve it, we upgrade to hydrocortisone 0.5% in addition.  Both were doctor's recommendation.  Luckily, this is all we have needed to treat him with.

  • We use a little of everything. Aveeno eczema, Cetaphil lotion, and hydrocortisone 0.5%. Sometimes I mix both lotions together. I bathe 2x a week to keep her skin from drying out. I can't wait until she grows out of this!
