Baby Names

Pronunciation

This is a family name, but I'm not sure how the average person would pronounce it. One way I like it, one way I don't...

Thanks!

It is pronounced AG-uh-tha ("AG" like apple)

ag-AY-tha sounds...really stupid. One eyebrow would go up if someone pronounced it that way.

This. OP did you really mean long A (A makes the sound like A as in ape)?  I find a lot of people get confused with what long & short vowels sound like...

This and the middle sound I voted "guh".

I knew a girl that spelled it Agata (we called her uh-got-uh though, not to her face).

  • In English, I'd say AGG-atha.  I know a Polish woman named Agata  who says her name a-GAT-a
