So, my DD was down with (I think) RSV since last week, and then we took her to urgent care yesterday, and they diagnosed an ear infection in her right ear (poor thing!). But, I could only get her to eat 3 oz on Saturday (and, only when sleeping!) and only 10 oz yesterday (but that is not super rare for her). I called the Ped, and they said as long as she is still wetting her diapers, they didn't feel a need to worry. She does BF throughout the night (grazes- think maybe gets 3-5 oz at most) and has her only sopping wet diaper of the day in the morning because of this. She did have partial wets throughout the day on Sat and Sun, but nothing great. I remember when I was in the hospital, they tell me that she needs 6-10 sopping wet diapers a day. Then, when she started having her eating issues, the Ped and GI said as long as she has 3 sopping wet diapers every 8 hours (I count a few together to make a sopping one, if that makes sense), then yesterday, the Ped said as long as she is still wetting, she is good. Make up your mind! When am I supposed to go to the ER? I felt so close so many times this weekend! I just want her to EAT!!! I can't wait to get the allergy testing done, and scope so I can find out if this is EoE or not! Sickness sucks!!!!!!!!!!

Re: 3 oz all day
She's not going to eat well with an EI b/c it's hurting her. Can you give her some tylenol 20 mins before a feed and see if that helps at all? She should be feeling better soon. If she's not feeling better in a day or two, take her back to the ped.
At her age, I would mostly look to see how she's acting. If she is very lethargic, take her right in. But, if she is otherwise acting ok, has bursts of energy and is responsive, she is ok.
I agree with the PP. My DD won't eat if she has an ear infection, but usually within 12-24 hours of starting antibiotics she starts eating again. If you're seeing no wet diapers, and she's showing other signs of dehydration, I would take her in. If she's wetting diapers and acting normal, then I'd try not to worry too much.
Good luck with the testing! I'm sorry you have so many unanswered questions!
She is doing much better today. Finally getting in to the teens for BM. She is normally at a high of around 20 oz/day for milk, so we are catching back up. SO STRESSFUL! But, she has been acting great- really was only fussy the day we took her to Urgent Care (on Sunday). I can only imagine how icky she felt, because DS, DH and I have all had 'tummy trouble' viruses. Well, just one virus, but we all got it. And, it is looming still. Went to Ped yesterday, and he said he has seen it around a lot and it could take up to 10 days or so to really start seeing a turnaround. Ugh. DS potty training off course? Yes, of course!
