Where do you shop for work clothes?

My office is business casual, so I'm not looking for power suits. I wear jeans every day but I like to pair nicer tops with them for work. My maternity wardrobe was really nice, but all I have that fits me right now are t-shirts with holes in them Embarrassed

Since I'm going back in two weeks, does anyone have any suggestions for where to shop? I don't really want to spend more than $40 a piece but will go a little higher for something nice. Online is fine, maybe even preferred.

We love our little guys!

  • I was still kind of fat when I went back to work plus I was pumping every 3 hours, so I got a lot of stuff at the Limited.

When not pregnant I wear jeans to work daily too. I get most of my tops from The Gap. I like NY&Co, I like The Loft too. The limited is where I like to get nicer things from, like on buisness cas days when I'm not allowed to wear jeans.

  • TJMaxx, Marshalls, Macys, Loft. Some White House Black Market (pricy but they fit me so well!)

  • Sounds like my work, too - we can wear jeans, but I prefer to wear cropped ankle pants in black the summer with flats and cute tops (I feel more professional in this outfit), and in the winter I am a tights/boots/dress girl, or booties/jeans/blazer girl.

I get my cropped pants at Banana, but I shop the end of the season for sales. I get cute tops at Kohl's and Gap and Loft. I love Lofts dresses and I also love that most of their stuff is usually on sale. I also like The Limited for cute tops and blazers and jeans.

Honestly, I have never paid more than $40 for most of my pieces, although I do splurge on jeans (as I have a curvy/atheltic body and am particular about jeans) and I will splurge on shoes and bags.

This.  Their clearance and their coupons.  I think when I first went back, I went to several stores and seemed like I struck out nearly everwhere.  I did, however, find a few things at Old Navy, Dress Barn and TJ Maxx.

  • I'm pretty short so I'm limited in options...mostly ann taylor & loft, sometimes dept store petite sections, sometimes banana or black house white market, and since I just got a new job I am thinking of treating myself to the personal shopper at nordstrom to see what she could do for me (I don't think the shopper costs anything but there might be a minimum you have spend, I have to find out...)

Ann Taylor & Loft, Express, Limited, Banana, Kohls. I think these may have already been mentioned. Some co-workers love H&M. I have never had luck there but they come in w/ really cute clothes.  I find some things, like work pants, it's worth it to spend a little more on quality that will last for several yrs.

  • Lands End has some great basics (especially for petites like me), and they ship promptly when I've ordered online.  And ditto previous recommendations for Ann Taylor/Loft, and JC Penney's.
  • Marshalls, TJ Maxx and NY & Co. Sign up for emails, they send like 40% off coupons :-)
  • Banana or Express for the basics (pants/cardigans) and Target for trendier stuff to pair with it.  Some of my favorite skirts are from Target and they look great!
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!

  • I buy most of my work clothes at the Limited because they fit me the best. I like Target for cute tops. If you sign up for emails Limited sends coupons and also lots of offers. I rarely pay full price for anything. Also I was told by a sales assoc that they don't have an outlet store so they will put their items on clearance and keep them in stores until they sell. I seriously bought a pair of dress pants for $15 once.
  • LOFT, Gap and the clearance rack at Anthropologie to keep things interesting.

  • Our company provides polo shirts with the company logo for us - since I am in sales we get them in a lot of colors.  So all I really have to buy are pants - at my home office I can wear jeans - when I am in other offices, with customers we pair them with Khakis.  Most of my shopping is done at JC Penney.  I do buy a few other cute outfits for days that I feel girlie (I work in the construction equipment industry).  I never wear skirts or dresses because I do not know what I may end up doing in the course of a day.

I did the exact same thing!

  • I went back this time last yr and got a bunch of tops for really cheap at Espirt.  I don't know if there are many around and the one by me recently closed.  I pretty much shop where everyone else mentioned and Lord & Taylor sale rack.
  • I also can wear jeans to work but tend to dress a little less casual because of my position. However, I still wear jeans with cute tops and jackets/cardis when I don't have important meetings going on. I shop at a lot of the places already mentioned (Loft is my go-to for a lot of things) plus a few more that might be too "outside of the box" for you but you might consider them. I find a lot of great staple items at Talbots and Coldwater Creek. Yes, I know, the immediate picture is a bunch of 50-something clothes but I get some really cute basic tops, jackets, and cardis at great prices on sale. The best thing is that most of the time they fit great and wear well (i.e., stand up to frequent washings/dry cleaning and two little boys).
