Babies: 9 - 12 Months

New to this board...and need help!

Hi!  My son is 9 months old as of yesterday. Lately, he has been hating his crib.  Prior, he was fine sleeping in it and slept most of the night if not all the way through. Ever since he's become more mobile, crawling, etc. he has been waking up constantly, I think he shocks himself by moving and waking himself up, or runs into one of the sides of the crib.  (I think he needs an infinity crib so he never runs out space to roll). I would just let him figure it out and cry, but since he doesn't just cry, but all out screams I can't (because what if he's hurt or something)...especially since we live in an apartment.  Any advice on how to help him and us get a good night's sleep again? TIA.

  • I used to roll receiving blankets up and lay them next to DD when she was drifting off to sleep and then removed them when we would go to bed, that seemed to work really well, I also have been giving her a blanket to sleep with so she has something to cuddle with and keep her company, as well as keep her warm. You could also try putting him in a sleep sack, depending on his size! Hope that helps!!

  • You are VERY welcome! Good luck and CONGRATS on hitting the 9 month mark! :)
  • I agree with the PP.  My LO found a connection with a stuffed panda we call pandy and snuggles with it all night long.  We had some points prior to that when she learned to crawl and roll where she started waking.  We gave her a few minutes to cry and she seemed to work through it.  I know it is difficult being in an apartment but maybe the lovey will help your LO work though it.  Good luck .
