Spit-up at night

When my LO woke up for his 6am feeding, I noticed a patch of dry spit-up on his pj's. He struggled with gas a lot earlier in the night, but I never heard him spit-up. We just started working on transitioning to the crib again, but now I am worried that he will choke in his sleep. Does your LO ever spit-up without making much noise, and does it ever choke them?

Re: Spit-up at night

  • mine does it all the time, she makes little to no noise, never chocked. She rooms in and her crib is next to my bed. I put her down on her back, but she either turns her head to the side or turns to her side.

it sucks b/c it wakes her up.

  • usually by about 3 or so week they turn their head to the side while sleeping so it is much less likely that they will choke and if they are choking I would think the noise would wake you up.  My LO has spit up a few times in her crib too without me knowing it.  But overall, it's much safe than tummy sleeping.

  • Yes, he tends to sleep with his head turned to one side, and the spit-up was on his shoulder rather than in the middle of his pj's. I guess I will try not to worry too much.

  • DD has reflux and projectile vomited while sleeping in her crib several times before we switched back to the RnP. It is completely silent which is definitely scary but doesn't seem to bother her at all. I always turn her head to the side when I lay her down in her crib (switching sides each time) and there was only a teeny bit on her shoulder each time. Most of it was on her sheets.
