Man Colds Suck

DH has had a cold for the last couple of days. He is driving me crazy. He doesn't want to take medicine, but he doesn't want to go to the Dr. So instead he just sniffles, blows his nose (and he blows it really strangely, I don't know how to even explain it), and coughs. Oh, and he can't hear anything I say. I know he feels sick, poor guy, but Good Grief he's such a child when he's sick!
Because you're mine, I walk the line....

Re: Man Colds Suck

  • Oh, I understand! DH has developed a hay fever allergy just this year (never once had an allergy in his life) and for the past 3 weeks has been a sniffling stopped up mess. I do understand that he doesn't feel great but he refuses to take the allergy medicine because it "makes him feel weird". Plus hay fever is the most common allergy in the UK and everyone seems to suffer from it on some level.

My 30 week pregnant self has very little pity at the moment!

  • Hahahaha! I hear ya. My DH turns into a total wimp when he is sick... it drives me crazy. He mopes around the house, and sighs dramatically loud, and leaves a kleenex trail for effect, even if his nose isnt runny. In my family, even when we were sick it was rare for us to stay home from work or school, and if we did it was to sleep and eat chicken noodle soup... i.e, it wasnt fun. In DHs family, his mom made a HUUUGE deal out of even a sniffle and they got to stay home all week and eat whatever junk food they requested and watch movies, etc. So now whenever DH gets sick, he expects the same treatment.... and it gets even worse if MIL finds out he is not feeling well, then she is calling 3-4 times a day to find out how he is doing. Ugh.

  • I cannot even stand to be around DH when he has a man cold. He becomes this awful baby! And he doesn't sound bad, so I kind of question how sick he really is. Ugh, I feel your pain. Hope he gets better (and less annoying!) soon.
